About this ebook
Beyond Mobility is about prioritizing the needs and aspirations of people and the creation of great places. This is asimportant, if not more important, than expediting movement. A stronger focus on accessibility and place creates bettercommunities, environments, and economies.
There are many examples of communities across the globe working to create a seamless fit between transit and surrounding land uses, retrofit car-oriented suburbs, reclaim surplus or dangerous roadways for other activities, and revitalize neglected urban spaces like abandoned railways in urban centers.
The authors draw on experiences and data from a range of cities and countries around the globe in making the case for moving beyond mobility.

- Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5A great book for those interested in urban planning. I had to read it for a class but I still enjoyed it. The book can be repetitive, but you can just skip those paragraphs that are repeated information. It includes really nice pictures that increased my understanding of what the authors were describing. I really enjoyed it. It discusses the future of city planning, the problems with the cities of the past and issues of gentrification. Definitely worth the read if you enjoyed The Death and Life of Great American Cities by Jane Jacobs!
I have the paper back of the book as well and the book is actually 250 pages, the way scribid formats it just makes it seem WAY longer than it actually is.
