About this ebook

An old Warlock finds a baby dragon on his way home from gathering herbs. He carries the Wyvern home with the hopes of adopting it as his own child

The baby dragon isn't any ordinary dragon, as it can transform into a humanoid. This is a dangerous decision as dragons are the natural enemy of Warlocks and Witches.

Despite the dangers, the elderly Witch and Warlock couple choose to form a family with unlikely members.

This short novella was created for those who are graduating from picture books. It's a short read about how family can be made up of any race or gender.

The Warlocks Dragon - MJ Natali

    The Warlock's Dragon

    By MJ Natali

Aone hundred- and twenty-year-old warlock with a slight bow to his back, picks his way through the moon-lit forest. His shaking hand grasps a broken tree branch, careful to avoid stepping on his white beard. He’d cut it, but it took years to grow. Besides, any self respected warlock has a beard this length, and he refuses to cut it. Evening has set and still a long way to go before reaching his stone cottage.

His precious cargo nestles safely in a blanket slung over his shoulder. It’s asleep now, and he prays it stays that way until morning. There’s nothing to feed it until he can hunt for food during the daylight hours.

He feels a movement within the blanket. Is it waking? He stops and peers down, making sure not to wake it as he pulls back the covering. No, it’s just dreaming.

What am I to say to Hazel when I arrive home? She’s always wanted a child, so maybe I can convince her to take it on as our own. It'll need at least the two of us to hide this from the Coven. If they find out, they'll kill the creature. No, we can't have that.

I was lucky to come across it. Its kind being a natural enemy to warlocks and witches. If things go as I hope, this creature will grow strong with its powerful magic. It will protect us from others of its kind. He cackles at his genius plan. Yes, it will be a benefit to the coven and the others will stop thinking I’m a crazy buffoon of a warlock. In time they will see. In time.
