About this ebook
Jim Knowles was your everyday workaholic. He usually had his head buried in spreadsheet calculations, however, once about every two years he would take a break. He and three of his high school friends would get together on a skydiving spelunking trip into some unknown area just for adventure. This current trip was not unusual for their normal get together. Airplane over an island, skydive in, find a cave, do their thing for a week and then take the scheduled pickup boat ride back to civilization. Finding the small artifact deep in a cave was not part of the plan. Taking it through custom on the way back home was also unplanned. The effect that small artifact had on all four was simply beyond belief.

Chapter 1
One Full Minute
He sat in the small airport lobby and waited for his high school friends. They were coming in on individual flights from other parts of the US. After high school they had ventured to their separate colleges and then to cities in four different states once they graduated. Their career fields were as varied as the states where they lived, however, their careers had one thing in common. They, the four of them, were desk bound with inside jobs. Their jobs spanned from Silicon Valley in California to Wall Street in the heart of New York and from NASA in Huston Texas to the Halliburton Company in North Dakota.
It may have been the desk bound jobs that made these outings so important but he suspected it was simply the chance of something different. He knew that each loved their work and that would never change. He also knew their appetite for adventure and this trip should fill the bill and satisfy their lust for at least another year or two.
Susan Jenkins was the first to arrive. He greeted her with a hug and a kiss on the cheek. She was the absolute poster child for fitness. He thought she must have a daily workout schedule to keep in such great shape. He figured her routine was not unlike his own.
Wow Susan, you look great, been working out huh?
Jim Knowles asked.
You would know and, hey, you too,
She said through her smile.
They spent the next thirty minutes catching up on the past two years. The airport was small with only two gates and they kept watch on both as they talked.
As we expected, they would enter together,
They both said as they saw George Scott and Lance Carter come in from the same gate, the last leg of their journeys must have been on the same airplane.
Are you two still attached at the hip?
Susan asked remembering how they were in high school. During those days, if you saw one you would see the other.
On occasion we are,
George said as they greeted Jim and Susan. We kind of caught up on our way here, how about you two?
Same here, we kicked around the last couple of years as we waited,
Jim added.
Collecting baggage was not necessary as they each brought only a carryon bag. What they were about to do required no excess equipment or luggage accompanying them. Leaving the lobby they hailed a taxi that would handle the four of them. Susan climbed up front and the boys sat in the crowded back seat, their backpacks rode on their laps.
Take us around to One-Way Airline, it’s on Airporta road,
Jim told the driver who looked disappointed that this trip was going to be that short. It was only about a mile and a half around to that small hanger. This airline, located on the other side of the runway, used the same runway they came in on as its home field.
Jim handed the driver the money, with a healthy tip, when they arrived at their destination. Thanks, sorry the trip was so short.
Accepting the money the cab driver finally smiled. Dat’s ok, it ok,
He said giving a small wave of dismissal as he re-entered his vehicle heading back to the arrival terminal.
Senor’ Knowles, are you Senor’ Knowles?
The man asked, scanning the small group, as he approached from the open hanger.
I’m Jim Knowles,
Jim said as he raised his hand about half way up to attract attention.
Ah yes, Senor’ Knowles I am Manuel and I want to welcome you to our little airline. We have the things you asked for and we are ready to go when you are,
Manuel said.
Well we are ready also so let’s get the show on the road, uh, in the air,
Jim stated as he looked at his friends who nodded their heads in anticipation.
One-Way airline was no misnomer. They took you there but they did not bring you back. The other difference from other airlines was the fact that they only landed and took off from this current airfield. At your destination you jumped out while their airplane was still flying. This was one part of the adventure that simply took your breath away.
Once on the small airplane, the entourage donned their parachutes
