About this ebook

An out of body experience during childhood and some uncanny experiences around the death of loved ones at a young age set the foundation for a lifetime of questions. What is the purpose of our life on Earth? What is behind the series of coincidences that happens to us in life? Keith Giemre unpacks his own life experiences to help you make sense of yours.
Ever since he was a small boy he had a fascination with the purpose of our life on Earth. Keith Giemre wonders if a series of randomly interconnected synchronicities are possibly the fulfillment of a carefully devised plan by unseen forces.. and if so, what is the nature of those forces?
Keith looks at how signs show up in our lives leading us inexorably forward on our unique paths, and how each experience builds on the previous ones to teach us what it is we need to know for the next step.
Keith reveals some of his own secrets to good living, and shares tools for bringing yourself into alignment with your life purpose so that you can easily identify and embrace the opportunities that are life's gift to you.

Keith Giemre

Keith Giemre enjoyed an expansive and vibrant international accounting career culminating in his appointment as Executive Chairman of South African media giant, Primedia Broadcasting. Now retired, Keith lives in Cape Town just a few meters from the Atlantic Sea, with Table Mountain nestled on the left hand side of his iconic picture postcard balcony view. Keith's journey from relatively sheltered childhood in Pretoria to a point where both spiritual and material achievement are welded into an exceptional level of success, is detailed in his growing body, mind and soul series of books. Keith's books are aimed at adults who have begun to question the mysteries of life and are striving to make sense of it all. The books record the evolvement of Keith's own body, mind and soul, taking the reader from the out of body experience of a small boy, through 60 years of research into the familiar questions: Who are we? Why are we living on earth? And what happens to us when our earth body dies? And what happens to our soul after the earth death? Keith shares his personal journey through these questions in his 7-book series.

    INTRODUCTION

    My Life in England

Ever since I was a small boy I have had a fascination with the purpose of our life on Earth. So it is to trace this unfolding of purpose that this book includes a review of my life from my youth until now. You will read about many apparent coincidences in my life, both in South Africa and England; to such an extent that like me, you will begin to question whether they can possibly be coincidences. Is there maybe another answer? Are these events possibly the fulfilment of carefully devised plans by unseen forces?

I have lived a rich and vibrant life. It began in South Africa, shifted to England and then returned to South Africa. Over some 46 years I have had the honour of meeting and working with some gifted and unusual people. I have also been happily married for over 38 years to my wife, Sue, and have three daughters. I was the only son in four. Although I, like everyone else, have had to work on life, it has been very good to me. I have often been required to take the first step and then Life has supplied the remaining journey.

I wish I could name all the marvellous people with whom and for whom I have worked. Early on in my working life I realised that, if you wish to thank people in a speech or document, then restrict the thanks to the top one or two key players. If your thanks go further than this, then the people you forget to thank will weigh heavily on you. So at this stage, I acknowledge with thanks every single person who has played a role in my working career, both in South Africa and overseas. Your companionship has been a pleasure.

We live in a time now of rapid technological advances. If you were no good at managing change in the past era, you have little chance without a new mindset of embracing change in this one. We are bombarded with information, and television and internet coverage has removed the barriers from the eyes of the rest of the world. Land borders do not exist for television and internet coverage. Countries and their people have nowhere to hide. The only sad thing is that wars and horrific violence continue almost unabated. The computer, and with it the internet and email, have replaced the posting of a letter and long hours of research going through encyclopaedias, either at home or in a library. At the touch of a key we can access through search engines whatever subject we wish to view.

So, how should we deal with this rapidly-changing life on Earth? I have included chapters in the book sharing the knowledge and wisdom I have gained from living my life. I believe that firstly, we have to learn to become more conscious and live in the present moment; secondly, we have to keep checking that we are not just moving forward on autopilot; and thirdly, we have to slow down and have some quiet thinking time. I have given some suggestions in the book as to how I believe these three goals could be approached.

Most of us wonder at some stage where we come from and what happens when we die. I am one of many people, past and present, who have searched for answers. To address these questions I have looked at verses from religious books and tried to integrate these with my own experiences of how life is viewed in this age. I believe that we all have a purpose on Earth and that this purpose is particular to each incarnation. Ultimately, our purpose on Earth is to be in a state of love, harmony and peace, and to project this state to everything else. I also accept the concept of karma, which occurs when we are not in tune with our life purpose and gives rise to energy blocks. I believe that there is a source of all life. This has been given different names in different countries and cultures, but it is the same life source.

If you take a battery-operated toy and remove the battery, the toy ceases to operate. In a similar way, if the life force is removed from a human body, it ceases to continue its life on Earth. In both instances, the subject requires the energy from the battery or life force to maintain the energy flow. Later in the book I will explain why we are all energy and we are all one, and why energy projected through thought, word or deed is never lost and will sometime, somewhere, come back to us. The individual influences the universe and the universe influences the individual.

Every journey or undertaking starts with the first thought and the first step. There are many ways to reach the top of a mountain and similarly in life, there are many ways leading to the fulfilment of our life purpose; each path has its own problems and opportunities. We have to follow our perceptions when deciding which path to choose. Note that this does not mean we can’t change paths many times finally to fulfil our life purpose.

Where I have made reference to the Bible or included extracts, the version I have used is the Revised Standard Version of the Common Bible, published by William Collins Sons & Co Ltd in 1973. References and extracts from the Aquarian Gospel refer to The Aquarian Gospel of Jesus the Christ, written by Levi, paperback edition, 12th printing 1988, copyright by Leo W. Dowling.

In certain instances I have, for ease of writing, only referred to man. Where I have done this please also read woman. It was not my intention to distinguish between the masculine and feminine.

Following the conclusion, I have also included four appendices with exercises that you might find interesting to carry out. My purpose is to inspire you in a similar manner to the inspiration I have enjoyed on my life journey.

    ONE

    Psychic Moments

My first conscious memory of life on Earth only took place when I was about three years old. My family moved from one house in Pretoria to another. My first memory was climbing out of the removal truck, clutching a little red car in my hand. I have no memory of climbing into the removal truck, nor of the house from which we moved, which was a half an hour journey away. Even seeing the first house some time later did not awaken any earlier memory. Also, viewing photos taken in the old house and garden meant nothing to me. I believe I had been operating on spiritual autopilot and my Earth mind only clicked in when I experienced my first conscious memory. Could it be that this is the way we are protected from the memory of the trauma of our birth and the earliest years of our life on Earth?

Looking back, I wanted to see what unusual events occurred in my life that could be ascribed to psychic activities. When I was eight years old my mother woke one morning and said that she had had a very vivid dream or vision of her mother’s passing from the Earth. At that time her mother was in hospital being treated for cancer. Her dream or vision was of her mother walking happily up a steep white road and just before she disappeared from view at the top, she turned around and waved goodbye. The numbers 10 and 11 appeared as a flash in the dream or vision, as if my mother were viewing a screen. When she told us of this, she said she believed it meant that her mother would pass away at either 09:55 or 10:50. At 09:55 she got my father to phone the hospital; the nurse reported that my grandmother had had a good night’s sleep and had eaten a hearty breakfast. My mother was not convinced and got my father to phone again just before 11:00. He was asked to wait for the sister on duty, who then came on line a few minutes later to say that my grandmother had passed away unexpectedly at 10:55.

When I was about 11 or 12 I also had a remarkable experience. I had gone to a matinee at a cinema with two of my friends by bus from our home, and had told my mother that I would be home for lunch at 12:30. The cinema performance ended at 11:35, which gave us 15 minutes to catch our homeward bus. However, I decided that I wanted to see what was showing at the cinema across the square from the one we had just attended. My friends didn’t want to come with me, but I worked out that I had sufficient time to cross the square and get back in time to catch the bus home. Well, I did not make it back in time and just as I turned the corner to approach the bus stop, I saw my friends on the top deck waving madly to me as the bus sped by. I was annoyed that I had miscalculated my time and felt guilty and fearful about what my mother would say about my having missed the bus. I collapsed forlornly on the bench and thought of the 30 minutes I would have to wait for the next bus. Suddenly, I blacked out and the next moment I found myself on the top deck of the bus with my friends, who were still amused by my crestfallen expression as the bus had passed me. I tried to tell them not to worry as somehow I had now caught the bus, but it soon became apparent to me that they were unaware of my presence – even though I believed I had the same physical body as before. I then became concerned that they would not tell my mother where I was. Somehow, my thinking of this prompted one of my friends to say that he would go and tell my mother that I had missed the bus and would be half an hour late. At this, I instantly found myself back in my body sitting at the bus stop. As quickly as I had found myself on the bus top, I found myself at the bus stop. When I finally got home I told my mother about my out-of-body experience that morning and also related the events to my friends on the bus. They did not believe me, even though I repeated word for word their conversation. As for my mother, she just smiled and would not be drawn into it.

I believe that the consequence of missing that bus home had a long-term effect on me. I always ensured from then on that I arrived early for meetings and where a meeting was scheduled for a new venue, I did my best to visit it in advance to ensure I was not late.

I travelled to England in my mid-twenties and one night, in the town of Richmond, I had either a dream or a vision of a favourite uncle of mine standing at the end of my bed. He waved as if to say goodbye and disappeared. I wrote to my mother about this and her letter of reply some weeks later said that the uncle had, in fact, been burnt to death the very night that I had seen him wave goodbye to me.

My first experience with death occurred when I was six years old. My friend of the same age lived two houses away from me. He had cancer of the blood and had to undergo regular blood transfusions. Unfortunately, the gap between one transfusion and the next got less and less. One day I called to see him and his mother asked me to come in and say goodbye to him as he was going to join Jesus. I remember being confused, but I went in to see my friend, who was perched up in the bed on pillows. He looked very white and his eyes appeared larger than I had ever seen them. But he was very serene and calm. I was only permitted to stay a short time. I went home and asked my mother what it meant when his mother said he was going to join Jesus. She explained that this meant he would shortly be leaving this Earth life. The next day he passed over and going past the house made me shiver, because it felt strangely cold and empty. Something seemed to have left the house – which of course, was the spirit of my friend.

I had a similar feeling when we buried my grandmother. We caught an evening train to her hometown, with the coffin being carried in a separate coach. I can still remember climbing on the train and settling for the first time onto a sleeper couch. I remember the smell of train leather and the excitement of the engine moving out of the station. I also remember the train guard arriving to convert the chair couches into sleeping couches. Oh, the excitement of crawling between the sheets and feeling and hearing the movement of the train! We arrived at our destination at 03:00 and waited in the station yard while the coffin was unloaded from the carriage. Her sons had brought a lorry to transport the coffin home with them. And then it happened. Again I got the strangely cold and empty feeling I had had when
