AN A-Z OF FANTASTIC BEASTS
A:
ACROMANTULA
ASHWINDER
AUGUREY
(SUMMARY & KEY POINTS)
An acromantula is an eight-eyed spider that has the capabilties to speak like a human. The origins of this beast are Borneo and it is thought to inhabit a dense jungle.
It has thick black hair that cover its body and the legs can reach up to 15 feet tall. The acromantula's pincers are poisonous and create some sort of clicking sound when it is excited or angry.
The female is the bigger sex and can lay up to one hundred eggs at a time. These eggs can be as large as beach balls. They are very soft and white in color as well. It takes around six weeks for the eggs to hatch.
This horrid beast is probably wizard-bred and is illegal to import or sale. Most likely it was created to protect wizard treasure or hiding spots.
An ashwinder is created when a magical fire is allowed to burn unchecked for too long a time. It is a thin pale-grey serpent with glowing red eyes. It leaves the fire with an ashy trail behind it as it slithers away.
The lifespan of an ashwinder is incredibly short. It will only live for up to an hour and seeks a dark secluded spot in which to lay its eggs.
It is imperative that a wizard find the ashwinder quickly and secure its nest because these eggs, if frozen, are of great value for use in a Love Potion.
An augurey is native of Great Britain and Ireland. At times it can be in other parts of Northern Europe as well.
Many say it resembles a small and underfed vulture in appearance. It is greenish black and is very shy. It nests in bramble and thorn and eats large insects and fairies.
An augurey only sings at the approach of rain and once this was discovered it has become a useful home weather predictor for many in Britain.
Key Points
There are rumors that this beast has created a colony in Scotland. According to Harry Potter's personal copy of this book that has been confirmed by he and Ron Weasely.
Ashwinder eggs are brilliant red and give off an intense heat.
Interestingly enough an augurey will only eat flies in heavy rain.
B:
BASILISK
BILLYWIG
BOWTRUCKLE
BUNDIMUN
(SUMMARY & KEY POINTS)
A basilisk is known as the King of Serpents. It was discovered by a dark wizard that found a chicken egg hatched under a toad would produce a gigantic serpent with extraordinarily evil powers.
The basilisk can reach up to fifty feet in length and the male is noted as having a scarlet plume on its head. Its fangs possess the most dangerous venom of a serpent but its most dangerous means of attack is the cold stare of its large yellow eyes. To
