    Faculty number... Rob Scott typed the nine digit number into the large copy machine's keypad. But... I have to tap the touch pad for it to accept my faculty number?

    Yep, Connie Wilson, the Criminal Justice Department secretary said. She shifted, knocked against a stack of boxes and swore quietly. Rob hid a smile. Between the large copier, cartons of copy paper, and two adults, there was no room to move.

    I can't hit 'enter' on the keypad?

    Not if you want copies.

    Rob tapped the touch screen and the big machine whirred and groaned, seemed to take a deep breath, and... spit out a single piece of paper. The copy room, a glorified, windowless closet, filled with the acrid smell of toner.

    Rob looked at Connie. My grandmother wanted me to be a mechanical engineer... after I dismantled an antique mantle clock on a visit when I was eight.

    Connie raised a brow.

    He grinned. She was a 'glass is over-flowing' kind of person. She never seemed to remember that I couldn't put it back together.

    Connie snickered. She patted the large machine affectionately. Well, your best bet here is to make copies during working hours...

    It was Rob's turn to raise a brow skeptically. The machine knows when working hours are?
