Micah swallowed the lump in his throat. How did you get this?
His fingertips hesitated right above Arabelle’s wrist, where the skin was raised and covered in tiny white bumps. He’d just arrived home and found his wife in bed with the sun still high in the sky.
She shivered, but her skin felt hot to his touch. I was picking berries. I can’t get enough of them right now.
She smiled, gesturing to her rounded belly. Their first child would arrive in a few weeks’ time. I must have touched something else. The berries are fine.
Micah couldn’t speak. The offending berries were in a bowl on their small table. He looked them over. They looked like normal huckleberries. He wanted
