Who was Harry Houdini?
The man Harry Houdini is known by many people all over the world as the best magician to have ever lived. He’s known to be among the top pioneers of modern magic. Harry was born on March 24th, 1874 Hungary in Budapest. His real name was Erich Weisz. He moved to Appleton with his family at a young age.
Young Harry was always fascinated with magic and immediately began to perform in small shows. At the age of 20, he married his wife. Wilhelmina Rahner, who also became his apprentice in the world of magic. Harry performed escape magic acts all his life until he died at 52.
Early life
Erich Weisz was born in Budapest, Hungary on the 24th of March 1874. Harry Houdini was a son of a Jewish rabbi who with his other 6 siblings lived in one house. As a child, they moved to Appleton, Wisconsin with his whole family. When Harry turned 13, he moved with his father to New York where they took odd jobs so as to fend for themselves. The rest of the family later joined them. It was at this period where Harry became fully interested in the Trapeze arts.
Erich Weisz launched officially his magician career in 1894 as a full-time magician where he named himself Harry Houdini. The name Harry had been derived from his childhood name, Ehrie and yet the last from as
