This is the sixth book in the Pauline Sokol series by Lori Avocato.Ex-nurse turned insurance fraud investagator Pauline Sokol is working undercover once again as a nurse. This time she is working for a land and air ambulance company whose billing is called into questioning. This installment of the series was quite good. I enjoyed her interest in someone other than Jagger, even though she is still interested in Jagger too. It is a fun fast read that will have you waiting for the next in the Plum...I mean ...Sokol series.

Having not read all of the others I felt a little lost and I hate that. I hate to read series out of order because you don't get the character development and relationships that you would if you read the whole series. That being said, I did enjoy this book, but probably not as much as I could have. Pauline investigates insurance fraud in an air and land ambulance service owned by twins. The charges aren't adding up correctly, but who is responsible (and please don't let it be the hunky but burned out EMT that Pauline has a thing for)?

Reminiscent of Janet Evanovich's Stephanie Plum but I didn't enjoy it as much, possibly because I haven't started a the beginning of the series.Pauline Stokol, a private investigator, goes undercover as a nurse with an ambulance company. Unfortunately she has a phobia of flying in helicopters, which is one of her duties. She is suitably distracted by one of the ambulance officers even though she has an obvious hankering for her boss, who seems to be unattainable...usually.She is trying to uncover shady dealings in the billing and insurance of the ambulance company.

Lori Avocato is a Janet Evanovich fan. At least I hope she is, since she seems to have ripped off her characters and premise. If I had a choice, I would pick Stephanie and Ranger over Pauline and Dano every time. The writing and comic timing just aren't as great in Avocato's novel.That said, it was an enjoyable read. If you're looking for something to keep you going until the next Evanovich hits the shelves, this one might be a winner.
