About this ebook
Part man and part machine, the spaceship Prometheus has become tired of living. The only thing is, the company won't let him go as long as there is profit to be made. Oh, and he prefers to be called Dave by his friends. A short science fiction story by Constance 'Dusty' Miller.
Dusty Miller
Constance ‘Dusty’ Miller has written fiction, non-fiction and worked for newspapers and magazines. She did a brief stint as sports editor of a small-town weekly. She likes to make people laugh as well as think. Her erotica has a strong sense of the dramatic. Out of work and recovering from a life-threatening illness, someone suggested writing erotica which she initially rejected for lack of confidence. But love makes the world go around, and Dusty can no longer deny its pull. Dusty squeezes a little writing time in between raising a daughter and building a home-based business.

Act One
The ship plunged through the depths of space.
Lanny was on watch. Even with an artificial intelligence at the helm, regulations forbade the unsupervised operation of a manned ship.
Lanny was second officer and he’d put in any number of midnight shifts in his two and a half years aboard Prometheus.
So, Lanny. How’s the wife?
It was always like this. All communications went through one of Dave’s
