Summer Hill

I’m the tenth generation from the Blue Ridge Mountains. And to understand my passion to write, you need to know my history. My mother moved with her sister to the Atlanta area to help her with her four boys as her sister worked in the cotton mill. Mother was only 11 as she met my father and married at 12. I was the second child born and every other weekend we travel right back to the mountains. “We couldn't stay away for its in our blood.” And every summer all the grandchildren helped grandma and grandpa for months. My childhood and teenage years were about family, and at night, everyone came to eat, pick and sing. Everyone, knew who made moonshine in the family, but they called themselves lumberjacks, transporting trees down the river. “We all knew the rules.” Mountain children never fooled anyone for we entertained ourselves. Having a little fun, locking the neighbor down in the hollow in his outhouse, finding a rat in the well-water bucket or taking grandma’s mason jar that she filled with milk, right out of the creek. “Cold and good!” We climbed trees higher then the sky. We even climbed a plum tree with branches that hanged over the hog pen. Yes, we fell right into the hog pen. Oh, yeah, grandma knew we would try to reach for her plums. “Never a dull day!” I began telling stories at an early age. Listening around the corners for gossip or truth, adding romance or mystery. My family said, I was a little strange, but mountain people have different ways and the stories grew. “Truth or lies?” Romance was everywhere, barns, fields, even in the outhouse. Yes, love was deep and forever for passion always tells a story. And a visit to the ocean opened my range for I seen love everywhere— “My heart is to write as real to life fiction stories of romance passion.” A romance is not always happy. Life and passion comes with sadness, laughter, surprises, failed relationships, and a true romance for life. You will need soft tissue near by or a cup of hot tea to stay awake for you will enjoy the next surprise with laughter. I often think of my great-great uncle as the story was told. He sat by his wife of 85 years until she passed. He never stop crying as he walked far up a mountain and sat down in the place, she and him enjoyed. He looked out at the mountains as he took his rifle and shot himself, only to find him years later. “Their passion lived on through me and now you.” What I want to give my romance fans-- “A romance story that touches their hearts and a story to recall.” Summer Hill

Passion Never Ends - Summer Hill

    Chapter: One

Patsy always knew exactly what she wanted, and she wanted to feel alive again. She needed a magical touch to feel an outburst of intense sexual love, again. She wanted "Passion!"

She wasn’t going to cry another tear. She had endured six hours tossing and turning from one side of the bed to the other. She’d repositioned her pillows until she tossed them off onto the floor. Yes, an answer to love me all night, but yes to her, was another long, lonely, cold and sleepless night for Patsy. Oh, how she hated her bed.

There was a time in her life that she couldn’t wait to jump on the bed like a child to get underneath the bedcovers after a bubble bath. She loved the excitement of life and the skills of a man’s passion. She knew within minutes her man was coming with one glass of wine so they could share the floating cherries. She couldn’t stop herself as her glaze traveled right to his lips. It only took one embracing kiss, sinking deep into her. Her heartbeat raced with passion as she slid her hand inside his sexy, nightwear.

So what went wrong with the passion that was once in her bed?

Patsy didn’t care to think about it, she wanted to forget her troubles. She reached to turn the alarm off before that awful sound brings on a morning headache.

Besides, why does she need an alarm clock living on the island? Why does anybody need one? She pushed the bedcovers off her nude body feeling the spring chill.

She heard the seagulls squawking calls; peaceful, much better then the fall and winter foghorn that’s harsh. Spring— seagulls coming together as one as the fishing boats start bring in the morning catch. The Islanders respect the seagulls, because they are just as much part of the island as the Islanders. Like the tourist, the sea gulls returns every year at the same time, fatting up themselves for the matting season and no one on this island can forgets what this time of the year means.

Patsy sat on the edge of her bed. She draped the bedspread around her, wishing she could stay in the bed all day, cuddled, underneath the covers with a powerful man that knows how to love a woman.

She tossed the bedspread off her, stood up and stretched her arms as she looked at the time. It want be long now before the ferry brings the first tourist to Sea Island of Ardor this morning.

Patsy’s mind was on love this morning. She wasn’t the only islanders that watched the newlyweds hold hands as they glare into each-others desires with that look of no tomorrow. And thank God for the faithful couples that return each year hoping to place a new spark in their marriage to rekindle the fire. This is income of the islanders and Pasty is one that needs it. This island is known for finding love and fulfillment of your desires. Patsy recalled watching the tourist pack the gift shops from an early age.

Now, the Lovers enter her shop, looking for the right gifts for their family or friends. They whisper to each other with a quiet giggle as they look for the right gifts that will excite their love to the point of passion that never ends.

And no one on this island knows passion like Patsy, Her personal point of view. Her man and yes, her man is helpless lying on the bed, she owns him, doing whatever he wanted and sometimes more. She took the word freedom to explore all areas of lovemaking. Her sexual desire meant excitement, No rules— she wanted her man to believe he is in-control but it is her; A line of woman ancestors that passed the rules of lovemaking down and she kept that tradition.

    God— why?

Why— she asked as she looked out at the sky so blue —

Oh, yes, she sat back down on her bed trying to keep her mind on other things thinking of her French ancestors that explored this island and well known for enhancing lovemaking. Yes, she is thankful the United States decided to claim it, which the island become part of Georgia. There was no doubt that the United States knew what they needed and wanted and that was passion. She wrapped the bedspread around her, wanting to forget today. But she must be brave and continue the history.

Every island has a traditional story and the tourist come for the stories but Sea Island of Ardor is not a myth its truth. You only have to surrender to everlasting love.

Listen to the Islanders; Once the ocean wave’s touches the lover’s feet as they make passion love on the island’s shoreline the ocean will hold that love until a never ending love for that couple.

Yes, Believe— Our history of Love— but what about—?

Sea Island of Ardor has something magical about it and many don’t understand; it all starts once you’re on the ferry.

No one is the same once they visit this island and if you become an Islander, your children and their children will never leave. There is so much kindness and passion. Why would anyone want to leave?

Tears of love come so easy; she cannot believe this day. Patsy heard three soft knock on her bedroom door as if someone was almost afraid to knock and wake her up so early.

Patsy— Are you all right? Do you need me to help you this morning with your dress? Do you want breakfast or only tea this morning?

I’ll take coffee with cream if it’s not too much trouble Aunt May and please don’t worry about me. I’ll be getting dressed in a few minutes.

The cars will start to line up at eight o’clock but you take your time Patsy. In all my years on this island, I have never known anyone that was hurt, due to lateness. Patsy?

    Yes, Aunt May?

    I love you Dear.

    I love you, too.

Patsy stood stared at the door, wishing in her heart that on the other-side stood Marvin not Aunt May. She could not help herself from daydreaming that she could see the doorknob turning as the door opened slowly. Her heart pounds as a rush of warmth come up on her as Marvin entered into the room with her cup of coffee.

She just closed her eyes, tilting her head back a little, thinking how silly of herself.

However, she smelled cologne; she turned around. Where did that scent come from? She rushed over to the French doors, not realizing her strength she jerked the doors open thinking that Marvin was waiting on her to open the doors. Only to have the ocean mist take over the cologne scent that once filled her bedroom.

Sadness overwhelmed her as she closed the doors, knowing that no one in town had that cologne but Marvin. She had ordered it out of Greece for him.

She closed her eyes again, but this time to calm down for she was furious with herself. Her passion for Marvin was driving her crazy. She knew she had to get dressed and it was time for her to get this over with and to a new life.

Patsy wanted to wear something underneath her dress that Marvin would loved to see her wear. He loved her French lacy body briefer and more so the hook-and-eye panty closer. He loved to prove he could unhook so easy. Patsy enjoyed his achievements.

She stood up looked at herself in the full length mirror. This was a day to look back on her great-grandmother that brought this mirror over from Greece, as she come to this country with great-granddad. Grandmother loved telling the story about how a young man handmade this mirror for his new wife, which that young man was grandmother’s father and his new wife was her mother. Grandmother displayed the mirror in her mirror gift shop, telling the history of love within the mirror to the tourist as they shopped. It didn’t take much to see that everyone believed this mirror brought good marriages and long lasting love, hoping the one they purchased out of grandmother’s gift shop was special, too.

Grandmother’s heart and soul shined as she told the story and no one doubted this mirror held love. Grandmother wanted everyone to have a marriage that lasted forever so much that she let everyone in the family get dress in front of it before their marriage, thinking it would bring them good luck as it had many in the family and friends. Even my Marvin took a liking to great-grandmother’s mirror; he had taken it and restored it with his own hands back to its natural color.

However, as Patsy recalled; he always had the mirror near the end of the bed. She knew, he liked to watch. She would throw a sheer cloth over it at times and he would always remove it as he smiled before bedtime.

Oh, Marvin, my love; love was forever.

Patsy knew the first day she saw Marvin he was hers, and she was only five but she recalls it as if it was yesterday.

I have your coffee Patsy. Can you open the door for me?

    Thank you Aunt May.

Are you doing, okay? I would love to help you get dress and help you with your hair.

Thank you Aunt May, but I need to have this time for myself.

Sure, I do understand this is a big day for you. Oh, look Patsy, a sandpiper is sitting on the balcony rail. Isn’t that strange…

Strange— no— it’s beautiful Aunt May. Now, go on Aunt May as Patsy kissed her cheek and turned her around to walked with her to the door. See you Aunt May— I’ll be down soon.

Patsy couldn’t believe all the time that had passed, she knew she’s going to be late. But for right now, she needed to remember the passion between Marvin and her as she pulled up a chair to the mirror, touching the wood grains, sliding her hands easily and slow as she touched each carved out shapes with her fingertips.

Oh, yes, my love, remembering how this island has ways to bring people together, believing it with all her heart.

Patsy recalled back to her younger years about the times, she heard her mother and grandmother giggling as her mother-tells her mother that the ocean was the reason why her baby girl Patsy was born and that she would always return to the ocean with her Adam.

Patsy closed her eyes as she recalled the love as she watched from her bedroom window as her mother and father went hand-in-hand to the beach many nights. Good childhood memories, as she looks through family pictures.

Life on this island as a child was wonderful. The beaches are the playground for everyone, but mostly for children. Her mother loved taking her to the beach and each area had its on magical touch. Her mother explained to her. One day she would find her own special area as her and her father did; like so many other lovers have on the island. Although, She was young and she understood the island, ocean and mostly the beach.

Like most days, she and her mother were at the beach. Her mother watched the waves curbing the shoreline in a soft genial way as she played in the wet sand, filling her bucket up, making tall sand mounts. She looked up with surprise as a boy ran right at her, only to stop and kick over her sand mounts with his right foot. His mother shouted-out from a distance and told him to apologize. Marvin did, which they made sand mounts for hours, lining them up near the shoreline.

Although, she was five and Marvin was eight, she loved Marvin and could not stop staring at his eyes they were the color of the ocean. She knew then this must be her special spot on the beach. The years passed, they played right in the same area on the beach, having their mother’s never change their location on the beach. She knew in some strange way that her mother and Marvin’s mother knew they were soul mates; hearing the whispers. She and Marvin played and had having and they didn’t realized their destiny.

Marvin was in the third grade as she entered school and he was telling every one she was his cousin to cover up why he talked and walked with Her. But, She didn’t realize they were making fun of him as he spent his time playing with her, but as Marvin become a teenager and in middle school he become spitefully. He told her she was fat and ugly with her red hair and freckles. He didn’t want any thing to do with her, until she entered high school with a thin new look, and breast the size of cantaloupes. There wasn’t a boy on the schools ground that didn’t watch as She walked by, that’s when Marvin decided he wanted her to be his girlfriend.

However, Marvin tall and gorgeous with his jet-black hair, sea blue eyes and lips that made anyone melt as they watched him talk, you couldn’t keep your lips off his and every girl at school wanted to lock lips with him.

She and Marvin fought like dogs and cats, because of all the girls on the island wanted him, and she grew tired of fights and scratches. They loved each other so much, but she knew he was cheating and she was not fighting anymore. They grew apart until Marvin’s last year in high school and it was prom night. She couldn’t make up her mind who to go with, her heart was with Marvin. Therefore, she went with Bob the school clown and so did two other girls. She had heard that Marvin was going with a wealthy to do girl from the big city, which wants him to move to Atlanta and go to local college with her— But that wasn't the worst thing; it was all about this girl that keeps Marvin happy, by keeping her pants down.

She and Marvin avoided each other until they announced the prom King and Queen for Sea Island.

    Marvin and Patsy.

Marvin let go of his wealthy girlfriends hand and walked upon that stage as she stood watching him, holding out his hand for her to come up on the stage. She was a mess and terrified.

Why Marvin and her, she asked herself? She wasn’t even a senior.

Everyone encouraging her to go on and take her place with Marvin, but she was so weak in her legs, not sure what to do until she reached the staircase platform.

Marvin walked to her, took her hand and she melted with passion. She felt like she was in another time as he smiled and apologized, as he did the first time they encountered on the beach. That night as the ocean’s calm waves curved the shoreline and touched their feet, she and Marvin surrender to everlasting love. Hopefully, the Islanders didn’t think it was a volcano erupting."

Later on that summer, Marvin received a full scholarship in law. He was going to Atlanta where his sexual gratification, x-girlfriend resides on campus at the local University. She didn’t want him to leave the island but she didn’t want him to become a fisherman like his father and grandfather. If she didn’t let him go, he would never be the same, always wondering in the back of his mind; What if?

She had to let go of him. That’s when she made use of the ferry. No one was going to get-in-between them ever again. They kept the motels in business. It was like the forth of July every time and after Marvin received his degree in law, he came back to Sea Island Ardor and open a law-office. But not before they let the ocean waves touch their feet again.

Oh, Marvin, could you not see the love?

She took one last look at a picture as her attention was drawn to the mirror.

    What is that?

Patsy’s fingers feeling a letter caved out on the mirror. She got down on her knees to look closely at the bottom right front foot leg of the mirror.

Oh, Marvin, you carved our initials on the mirror and it’s the right foot. So glad you didn’t kick the mirror over, like my sand mounts.

Oh, no, the time! I need to get dress it’s almost eight o’clock. Patsy wiped the tears from her cheeks with her fingertips.

Patsy? I have your coffee — it’s almost eight—

    Chapter: Two

A deep romantic attachment faded, but not forgotten: Patsy was finally dressed and she hated to admit it, she was ready to go. But not before she has a moment of peace on the balcony. She heard the Seagulls all morning, she opened the balcony doors. She stepped out as hundreds of Seagulls started soaring overhead in a flight of gracefulness.

    Why?

The fishing boats are in and the sea gulls never leave a good meal. What is wrong or what are they trying to tell her? She open her arms out to them as they slowly glided all around the balcony, picking up their wing strokes as they headed to the fishing docks.

Was this a sign? Knowing in her heart, she knows this day must happen, if she wants a new start in life.

Why is it so hard to concentrate, she knows this needs to happen, she wasn’t the only one to have a day like this one, so why is she so afraid? Is this the wrong decision? Her love for Marvin will last forever and she knows this is what he wants her to do. What is wrong with her, what is she afraid of, a new life?

Patsy? What are you doing Patsy? Please, let me come in and help you.

Come on in Aunt May. I don’t have the door locked.

Patsy, dear, why are you standing out there on the balcony? It’s after eight o’clock, everyone is waiting. Don’t you think we need to get started?

Come Aunt May as Patsy held out her hand to her, see the beauty. Marvin was right when he picked out this store with this room above the bakery. It took him no time to open a wall up, and put in the French doors and build this balcony. Did I ever tell you that Marvin and I slept out here many nights underneath the stars watching for falling stars?

No, but many young and older couples hope to see a falling star to make a wish. I’m sure, what you and Marvin were doing was making wishes.

Oh, yes, you’re right about that Aunt May. We were making many wishes, as she giggled and smiled looking out at the ocean, knowing how much time Marvin and her spent on their special balcony.

Patsy withdrawn into sullen silence as memoirs filled her heart; One night Marvin and her were buck-naked, wrapped up in each other arms with a twin sheet, which halfway covered them as they fell off to sleep on the balcony, that’s above the front door of the bakery. It was the sounds of people that woke them up. They kissed and smiled at each other knowing the small sheet was not going to cover both of them as they got up and went back inside. Marvin being a gentleman, let her go first. It was so silly she was on her knees, moving like a snail’s so no one would hear a noise and look up at the balcony as she entered back into the bedroom. Marvin stayed cuddled up in the corner until she got dressed. She came out with the sheet as someone called her name, wanting to know what time the bakery opens. She was lost for words knowing Marvin was nude in the corner as she looked at the man. She tossed the sheet to Marvin, he stood up with the sheet wrapped around him. Much to her surprise, Marvin spoke up. Sir the bakery opens at eight o’clock with fresh coffee and donuts, and I am the waiter. The expression from the man’s face, brought on laughter all day and that’s the day she painted the open times on the bakery door.

Patsy, what are you thinking about? Surely you are not going to put this day off?

Aunt May— Do you think love between two people is given to them in heaven before they are born?

    Well,
