About this ebook

The courts continued to underachieve in administering appropriate sentences. No one it seemed, could or would intervene. A fast moving short story of one man's solution, and another man's willingness to go beyond the boundaries to achieve a satisfactory solution. This is fiction, but would sit very comfortable with a great majority of those who care to log in for a read. It is not a vigilante tale ... more like a precise and concise course of action taken by a professionally qualified professional. As with all my fictional stories, any connection to real people, either living or deceased is purely coincidental.

Any connection to persons either living or passed on is strictly coincidental. This is a work of fiction.

Life is a wonderful, exciting, sometimes dangerous and often totally boring trip. I have certainly had a taste of all these slices of the human experience and thankfully have managed not to overdose in any particular compartment.I strive to write as honestly and openly as possible, but will never get drawn into discussing the source of inspiration for any particular tale. They are all true in some way. We all have our own truth. That is the way it is with mankind. My journey is seventy years young as of 2016, and if you don’t find me plonking away at a keyboard, I’ll be somewhere behind the lens of my faithful Nikon, tending my private garden or manipulating some beautiful pieces of glass into some form of art.I write for enjoyment, and always endeavour to capture that ‘I know where he’s coming from moment’. This is my first real attempt at the online publishing world, and would love to take the opportunity of thanking you for popping in to meet me.I hope you enjoy the read, and wish you every success in life. It is a wonderful trip.Rex Jacobs.

He hadn’t always been a killer. In fact even now, after several successful missions, he still didn’t see himself as a murderer, a killer.

Before he had embarked on the shadowy and lonely life of an assassin, he had been an accountant, and prior to that, in descending order, a soldier in Malaya, a university student, a primary school pupil and a sweet little boy with angelic eyes and golden locks.

No one would ever suspect him of such deadly abilities. He was a quiet, studious man, always immaculately attired and seldom on the social radar, either at work or in the broader community. He could have been the archetypical church goer. But he wasn’t.

God may not approve of his idea of social justice, and his work was far too important to risk being made redundant by the act of repentance.

To his work mates he was Alfred. The name suited him. He had forgiven his parents a long time ago. It wasn’t their fault that cursed family Christian name had followed his ancestors from Germany one hundred and fifty years ago. He was another Alfred in a long line of first born males. Alfred the sixth seventh or fiftieth … there was no way of knowing … no records were complete enough to ascertain such mindless information. He was Alfred, and he was also quietly pleased that he had not sired any sons. The son he didn’t have would never be burdened by such cruelty. His daughters were both married, and under different surnames. There would be no more Alfred Kronkz’s. The tradition was finally put to rest.

Alfred. The quiet unassuming man who arrived
