Dear Dad,

I meant to start this letter on the bus, but the roads were so bumpy there was no way I could’ve written anything legible. I couldn’t pass the time reading, either. Gave me a headache and an upset stomach.

Well, I’m finally off to university. I know you would’ve been thrilled for me. Mom, on the other hand, doesn’t seem to feel that way. She was gone when I woke up this morning, at least that spared me having to say goodbye. When something she doesn’t like happens, she avoids it, or turns the attention back on herself with some meaningless drama.
