Sind Übersetzer Verräter, wie das italienisches Sprichwort vom "traduttore - traditore" nahe legt? Geht beim Übersetzen immer etwas verloren? Oder ist es "quasi dasselbe mit anderen Worten" (um einen Buchtitel Umberto Ecos zu zitieren), so dass angemessene Übersetzungen immer möglich sind und sein werden? Die Philosophie der Übersetzung ist nicht nur auf dem letzten Weltkongress der Philosophie in Athen thematisiert, sondern auch in nationalen Kongressen (wie dem letztjährigen DGPhil-Kongress in Münster) aufgenommen worden und ist natürlich für die interkulturelle Kommunikation von elementarer Bedeutung. Aus Anlass des 40. Geburtstags der AIPPh wollten wir mit diesem Thema aber auch einmal unsere interne Kommunikation reflektieren und haben aus diesem Anlass in Kooperation mit der Gesellschaft für interkulturelle Philosophie und dem Bildungswerk der Konrad-Adenauer-Stiftung eine Jahrestagung organisiert, die größer als üblich ausgefallen ist und ohne die finanzielle Unterstützung beider Institutionen nicht möglich gewesen wäre. Für die gute Zusammenarbeit danken wir besonders Dr. Johann Christian Koecke von der Adenauer-Stiftung und Frau Karin Farokhifar von der Gesellschaft für interkulturelle Philosophie. Eine schöne Anerkennung der Bedeutung des Themas und der Qualität der Tagung ist auch die Tatsache, dass sowohl die Tagung als auch beide anschließende Veröffentlichungen das Logo der deutschen Unesco-Kommission tragen durften bzw. dürfen.
