    Nineteen years old, author Theodore Wild volunteered for the draft. Promised a two-year commitment rather than the requisite three for an enlisted soldier, he harbored no illusions about where he’d be going. He was shipped to South Vietnam with Charlie Company 5/46 Infantry and later transferred to Bravo Company 4/21st Infantry, Big Bad Bravo.

    In Lions and Tigers and Cong, he narrates a compendium of times, places, and people who shared his journey from boy to man, a journey that lasted twenty-two months.

    Raw and evocative, Lions and Tigers and Cong offers a firsthand account of the day-to-day lives of young American soldiers. It draws from personal experience as well as shares stories, legends, tales, and remembrances of those who fought in Vietnam’s jungles, mountains, and rice paddies. This is the story of a group of men whose love for one another and need for one another were eclipsed only by the danger that shaped their lives.
