Chapter One

Woke up early this morning feeling both nervous and excited (not knowing what terrifying ordeal I was about to encounter). It’s the day I start my new job as a journalist near the beautiful beach and golden sands of Miami Florida. After a quick shower and putting on some make up, I went down stairs for a bit of breakfast. A few moments later my best friend Janet strolled into the kitchen eyes half closed and still wearing her pink pyjamas.

Wow look at you up and ready to go! So what time do you have get there?

Well I’ve got a 9 o’clock appointment with a Mr Mark Davies but I want to get there in plenty of time because as I’ve said I had the interview and offered the job via an agency, So I’m not quite sure exactly where this place is, Luckily I’ve got me SATNAV, that reminds me I’ve got to check I’ve got the address and post code handy, Anyway I best be going as I can’t be late especially on my first day.

Well the best of luck! And you can tell me all about it when you get back and looking at the time I’d better get a move on or I’m definitely going to be late, I’ll see you later then, bye. Janet is such a good friend. Having moved location recently I really appreciate her and her mother’s kindness for letting me stay here and giving me time to know the area before locating a suitable apartment nearer to my work.

I checked the time. It was 8 am. After checking my briefcase, I grabbed my car keys and made my way to the office. The roads were very busy and I just hoped I’d given myself enough time as being late would be unforgivable. Eventually I arrived with 20 minutes to spare; and with a sigh of relief I made my way to the car park.

Once parked I leaned forward and adjusted the interior mirror to check that my hair and makeup were ok. Satisfied with how I looked I locked the car and nervously made my way across to a huge glass covered multi-storey office building. There was this gigantic silver looking MAIN ENTRANCE sign above two glass swinging doors that made the entrance hard to miss, upon entering I made my way across a shiny marble floor to the reception area which could have been mistaken for the lobby of a Five Star hotel.

Behind a long marble desk, a very attractive young woman smiled at me in a fixed but pleasant way. She was wearing a dark grey pin-stripe trouser suit and whiter than white blouse, looking absolutely immaculate. Feeling a bit intimidated I approached

Miss Rachael Goodwin, I have an appointment with Mr. Mark Davis.

Please excuse me one moment while I try to contact him. After some time on the phone, she came back over to me.

Sorry to keep you waiting Mr Davis is expecting you, please take a seat and he will be down shortly. As I walked over to the seating area I couldn’t help but notice my reflection in one of the huge glass doors. After discretely turning from one side to the other with my long brunette hair swept gently over my shoulders, I decided that I too looked very smart in my skirt and matching top and if I may say so myself for a tall and yes slim young 30 years of age, I was more than pleased with my appearance. After all, I’m here as a journalist and not someone that’s on constant parade. I sat in one of the luxury arm chairs that surrounded a huge glass oval table and picked up one of the many magazines in front of me, then as if from nowhere without even having the chance to turn a page, A very tall, amazingly handsome guy was standing before me.

Miss Goodwin? He spoke in a deep baritone voice that made you just wanted to listen to forever. I nervously placed the magazine back on the table and got up from my comfy chair. I never thought I was going to stop looking up at him he must have been 6’6" tall, wearing a smart light grey suit, white shirt and dark tie. I don’t know why but I just went to pieces and spoke in a rather silly, timid voice.

Yes, I’m Miss Rachael Goodwin, pleased to meet you. He looked down with the most piercing blue eyes that I have ever seen. They could stop anyone woman in her tracks. Then he reached out his arm offering to shake hands. I placed my tiny hand in his and as they touched a strange but glowing feeling went through my entire body, a magical feeling like I’d never experienced before. His big hands felt very strong yet at the same time very gentle.

Pleased to meet you too I’m Mark Stacey the deputy editor and office manager. If you would like to follow me, I’ll take you up to the office and show you around. As we walked along the corridor I couldn’t help but notice what a nice firm bum he had and the smell that drifted off his body sent my hormones racing like a formula one. I thought, pack it in Rachael, behave yourself, whatever are you thinking of? He stretched out his arm and opened the door that led into a vast open plan
