Origami Chic by Sok Song is a delightful fashion origami project book for kids (and adults that love origami). I could picture my grand daughters making several of these projects for their fashion art girls they make. They could also use some projects on their dolls such as the purses, scarves, shoes, and jewelry. In the back of the book has the patterned and blank paper used in the projects. The many projects are very detailed on how to make them. Very easy step by step instructions to make all kinds of cute fashions children, esp. little girls, would love to make. I know my grand daughters love crafts and make little beaded bracelets that take fine motor skills that are harder than these projects. In just a few steps, kids can have an adorable piece of origami clothing for a name tag for a gift, a toy, or anything else they choose to use it for. Well organized and great photos and descriptions to explain each step. Great job. Great gift idea. I received this book from NetGalley for a honest review and it in no way effected my review or rating.

Origami Chic - Sok Song

Sweater

A sweater can be a functional piece, keeping you warm and cozy in cooler weather, but it can also add a quick pop of color to any outfit. This simple paper cardigan uses both sides of the paper to create contrast. Try experimenting with the angle of the sleeves and the length of the collar/lapels to see what proportions you get in the finished product.

STYLE TIPS

Toss a sweater over a T-shirt or blouse for a cool, layered look.

Pair with jeans and flats for a casual outfit or a dress and heels for a fancier ensemble.

Fold a thin rectangle at the bottom of your paper to create a border for the lapels. (Note: The side facing up will become the outside of your sweater; the side facing down will be the lapels.)

Turn the paper over.

Fold the paper in half horizontally.

Turn the paper over.

Fold the top corners down to the bottom, using both layers of paper. (Note: The corners will not meet in the center because of the border folded in step #1.)

Fold the side corners in at an angle to create the sleeves. (Note: The next step is a magnified view.)

Mountain fold the side corners to the back to shape the sleeves. (See the next step for reference.)

Blunt the tips of the sleeves by folding to the back, or tuck them in using an inside reverse fold.

Optional: Fold the top section to the back to shape the collar, or leave it up depending on your preference.

Enjoy your finished sweater!

Blouse

Blouses can come in many shapes and silhouettes, from sleek and fitted to loose and flowing. This paper version is accentuated by a contrasting collar and lapels, as well as modern, trendy cap sleeves and a peplum waist. You can play around with the size of the sleeves and collar by increasing or decreasing the size of the folds in steps #17 and #20. You can also eliminate the peplum by mountain folding the sides to the back on the finished model.

HOW TO USE

Use your blouse to decorate the front of a fashion-forward gift card.

Let your paper blouse act as a stylish gift tag on a box or bag.

Fold the paper in half diagonally and then unfold. (Note: The side facing up will become the bulk of the blouse; the side facing down will become the collar and lapels.)

Fold a narrow rectangular flap on the bottom left side.

Fold an equally narrow rectangle on the bottom right side.

Turn the paper over.

Fold the sides into the center crease. (Note: There will be a small, loose flap on the tip at the back. This will be folded inside later.)

Valley fold the top triangle down and then unfold.

Unfold the side flaps.

Fold the top triangle down on the existing pre-crease.

Fold the bottom point up to meet the tip of the top triangle.

Pinch fold a narrow landmark crease where the two tips meet and then unfold.

Fold the sides into the center on existing pre-creases. (Note: The next step is a magnified view.)

Turn the paper over.

Valley fold the bottom edge up using the landmark crease made in step #10 as a reference.

Fold the side edges into the center. (Note: The next step is a magnified view.)

Fold the top flaps out on a diagonal. (Note: Fold from the outside bottom corner to the upper inside corner.)

Fold the top corner flaps down to form the sleeves. Use both the corners and the circled point for reference.

Fold in and blunt the tips on each side to shape the sleeves.

Fold in and blunt the top corners to shape the shoulders.

Turn the paper over.

Valley fold the top center corners down to make the contrasting collar.

Enjoy your finished blouse!
