read this about 10 years ago and it didn't like it nearly as much as i did. The Heroine wasn't strong enough...her actions were disloyal and ridiculous. I found myself skiming through most of it. won't re-read it

A good, fast read. This is the first McNaught book I've ever read and was pleasantly surprised. I'm not much of a romance reader, but I found myself unable to put this one down. I loved the characters, time period, and story. It seemed a little rushed in the end, but other than that it was good.

Jennifer Merrick is a Scottish countess and is kidnapped from the convent she's been put in by her father. The man who kidnaps her is Royce Westmoreland a man known as the Wolf, a man with a reputation for cruelty and savagery. They join in a battle of wits where they balance between love and hatred.I really enjoyed the characters and the fact that they had hard choices and their choices had ramifications. I also liked the romance and how there were misunderstandings but also joy in their love for each other.

A Kingdom of Dreams is by far the best romance novel I have ever read. The writing is wonderful and well paced and the love story devine. There may be historical inaccuracy and characters far too modern for the time period but let's admit that we aren't reading romance novels for a history lesson. This book was a great light read that satisfied my craving for a fairytale and I highly recommend if you are seeking the same.

This was an excellent read. I was up half the night because I did not want to put this book down. The story is full of twists and turns, the characters are appealing and Jennifer's antics had me in stitches. This is one book that is definitely worth reading.

It have been a while since I read a medieval romance book. Characters seemed a little bit rude and barbarian to me after reading only regency historical romances for some time. But they are not, they still love, cry, die and live by their code of honor.
Interesting book, I admired Jennifer 's spirit and all the inventive ways she thought of to irritate Royce. :)

I've found many great recommendations from Nancy Pearl's book, Book Lust. This book is not one of them.

This amazing story begins with the marriage of Jenny and Royce (a.k.a. The Wolf). She is a Scottish nobleman's daughter, and he is a rugged English warrior. Their countries are at war with each other, and it's obvious that she's furious about having to marry the man who "stole" her virginity as she pleads to God to rescue her. From that intriguing teaser of a beginning, we are plunged backward into the story that leads to their union, and what an exciting and adventurous story it is! When Jenny and her sister are kidnapped by Royce's brother, Jenny does everything in her power to defy The Wolf. He's known as a cruel barbarian, and she is known to be proud to a fault. Although she's expecting cruelty from him, he surprises her by treating her fairly (sometimes, even kindly)even when she costs him a great deal. Throughout the book, they fall in love, get angry at each other, fight, and eventually return to each other. Jenny has her flaws, but she is also very young and loyal to her Scottish clan. Royce was my favorite character, because he was also proud but willing to sacrifice everything for the woman he loved. I'm having a hard time finding words to describe A Kingdom of Dreams. It was the most romantic book I've ever read. The story is incredible, and the writing is strong. Moments of great suspense and tragedy blend seamlessly with sigh-worthy romantic scenes. This is a true romance. "The Wolf" is so tender and loyal to his young bride, and he proves his love for her on the battlefield rather than the bedroom. This is the first book of Judith McNight's I've ever read, but it certainly won't be the last!

I enjoyed the first half of this, despite it being a bit fantastical (for me). But the heroine lost a lot of what she had going for her when she returned to her family. She had been pretty tough and capable, and then becomes kind of soppy and is too easily influenced by those who haven't at all shown themselves to have earned that merit. Then there's quite a bit of drama that felt excessive and unnecessary until nearly the end. The heroine spent a lot of time feeling sad and "torn" and acting prickly, and I just lost sympathy for her I suppose. The book also would have benefited from some substantial editing I think, but I know it's a top favorite just the way it is for a lot of people. This was my first from this author, and I will try another.

The Kingdom of Dreams is the first book of the Westmoreland Saga. I read this book many years ago, and I had this on my list to re read, and since my library didn't have it any longer, I decided I would need to buy it and well worth it in the end!! I loved everything about this book. At first it started out a bit slow, and I was a bit worried that I wouldn't love it as much as I did when I read it the first time. But wow, suddenly I was drawn in so completely I couldn't put it down and I realized what a fabulous couple these two are. Jennifer and Royce are enemies of a sort. Royce is English and Jennifer is a Scot. Jennifer for the past two years has been stuck in a convent as punishment for something she did not do, but cruel machinations from her step brother. Then she finds herself kidnapped along with her sister by Royce and his men. But through the course of events, they end up falling in love.Oh Man there is so much love that I have for this story, and honestly I can't even begin to express how much I adored these two and what conflict that drives them together...drives them apart and then together again. There are a few misunderstandings that happen between them. And some granted...I can understand why it would cause mistrust. But what was most compelling about this couple, is seeing the way they work through things. It isn't always easy for them, but they don't block out their true feelings for each other. And the emotion that is portrayed is very compelling. From beginning to end I wanted more of these two. I wanted to see what drives them to be together despite what tends to tear them apart on occasion. Kingdom of Dreams is a story that draws two people together, that build a kingdom of their own...a Kingdom of Dreams---full of life, love and laughter.A Compelling and Riveting romance to keep you on your toes and make every nerve ending come alive!! If you have yet to read this book....grab it up NOW and you won't regret it. A TRUE GEM OF A ROMANCE!!
