Chapter One
Baltimore Maryland
January 16th
Bull shit, he thought.
Grayson Jennings stared down at the spreadsheet handed to him by one of his accountants during the company’s monthly budget meeting. He calculated the numbers in his head and knew something wasn’t quite right.
Ms. Williams, these figures are erroneous, and that’s unacceptable! I want a new spreadsheet on my desk, ASAP,
Grayson bellowed. His mouth was pressed into a tight line, and the frost from his gaze as it fixed on hers was lethal.
Speechless, Shameya Williams ogled the man.
Grayson Michael Jennings, Chief Executive Officer of Jennings Enterprises, was a handsome devil. His custom-made suit fit his six-foot tight physique to utter perfection. He had the most sinful, electric blue eyes that seemed to undress her every time he glanced her way, but today they froze her in the seat. Naturally, the rich timbre of his voice was sexy as well as distracting. Instinctively, her eyes traveled down to his private area, noted the thick, hello
bulge from his crotch. All she thought about was being alone, in the bedroom with him, which made concentrating on business nearly impossible. Her mind and body would turn to mush whenever she was near him. Her femininity would throb and drip—instinctively soaking right through to the crotch of her thong. It had been awhile since she had some good loving.
All eyes turned to Shameya.
Esperanza gave her a sympathetic gaze; and her immediate supervisor, Ms. Brady, gave her the stink eyes.
Meeting adjourned!
Grayson stood and exited the conference room, followed by his minions, Adam and Joseph.
The rest of the senior management hastily took their leave of the conference room, talking among themselves as they left.
Stunned, Shameya sat at the conference table with the spreadsheet in her hands. She took a deep breath, counted to ten, and felt her cheeks burned—embarrassed by today’s meeting.
Grayson Michael Jennings was arrogant, intolerant, and unbending. She’d made a simple mistake, carried numbers over from prior year, which threw off her calculation, and he nearly ripped her head off, right in front of everyone. Mortified, she wanted the floor to open up and swallow her whole.
Besides, all of things that drove Shameya crazy about Mr. Jennings, she couldn’t deny the man was eye candy. His body was as impressive as his face. He had cool eyes that sucked you right in like a suction cup, with long thick eyelashes, a proud nose and high cheekbones. His sinfully sexy lips displayed the most dazzling smile for a white man. He wore his dark brown hair longer than most executives, pulled back into a ponytail. The one-carat diamond stud in his left ear was surprising. Yes, indeed, he wasn’t like most CEOs of a company. Lately, she found him invading her dreams—the two of them engaging in sex. At work, he pressed her up against the hallway, ripped off her thong, and took her then, or right there on the conference table, while everyone watched.
Damn, I need a man badly.
"Yo no puedo más—she can’t take any more" she said in her native tongue.
Forbidden territory, Shameya couldn’t explore that avenue with her boss. It was time to update her resume, and scratch him off the untouchable list.
I can’t work for a man I secretly desire in my bed.
§
Shameya stared out of her office window contemplating her next move. An accountant for Jennings Enterprises, she worked in the Account Receivable Department. Jennings Enterprises sold office equipments to other companies: desk, chairs, fax machines, calculators, everything a company would need to set up and run a business. Over the years, the company had been growing leaps and bound, and now they had over five thousands accounts. She like working for Jennings Enterprises and believed she could grow here—except for her obsession with the CEO. It was time to update her resume, and search the various Internet employment websites for a new job. Grayson was a tempting morsel; he was an attraction that wasn’t going to lead anywhere, but to heartbreak.
Esperanza entered her office and shut the door. "Meya, the boss is an asshole. Are you all right?’
Her friends called her Meya, short for Shameya.
Shameya turned toward Esperanza, threaded her fingers through her thick curls, a sure sign that she was stressed.
"Chica, don’t allow him to get to you. Let’s get some arroz con pollo and pastels. Spanish food will make you feel better."
Shameya smiled. She’d met Esperanza over five years ago. They bonded quickly after her move from Charleston, South Carolina to Baltimore Maryland. They each shared a Latino heritage. Esperzana Sophia Torres was full blood, where as she was mixed. Her mother was Latina and her father was African-American.
"Not today,
