CHAPTER ONE

Mike, where in the hell is your ass? Tina yelled in her head. She found it hard to believe all the twists and turns of her life. Yet today was definitely at the top of the list. She watched the monitor register her vital signs and laughed, right before contractions racked her body. It felt like something was tearing inside of her. Her thin body barely revealed her pregnancy. She had been grateful for an easy and uneventful pregnancy, until now.

It was at that moment Skye popped her head through the door. I’m going to miss the birth of this child, because I’m going to jail in about two minutes. That’s how long it’s going to take me to kill this crazy ass nurse who said I couldn’t visit you. Just want you to know I’m in the building. Skye Jones Tyler growled before closing the door.

Tina could hear Skye yelling at someone in the hallway concerning her exile from the room. Tina McNair was certain of two things at that moment; one, she was about to give birth and two, Skye would turn the maternity ward out if she didn’t get access to the room.

Tina and Skye have been friends since college. The two women plus Randall Hughes is and will forever be the three amigos. It was a known fact the three were more like siblings than friends. However, she had to admit Skye and Randall’s relationship had a stronger and closer bond. Tina pushed the call button, immediately a lovely voice came over the intercom.

Yes Mrs. McNair, how can I help you? The nurse’s voice crackled through the intercom.

Can you please let my sister come in and be with me? Tina asked as she tried to sit up in the most uncomfortable bed ever.

I’m sorry but we are still waiting for Doctor Smith and his okay.

Please, I need her with me. If Doctor Smith says otherwise, she will leave, please. Tina pleaded then yelled out as a contraction nearly lifted her off the bed. Tina could feel pressure pushing against her lower back.

The nurse huffed. Okay Mrs. McNair, she can go back but if the doctor says differently she will have to return to the waiting area.

Tina laughed to herself. Whether they knew it or not she had just saved the nurses, security and patients from a tornado name Skye. Again, Tina’s mind questioned the whereabouts of her husband. Surely, he had received her messages. She wanted him with her and she wanted the baby out. Damn, how much longer would she have to wait to have this baby? Within seconds, she heard a knock at the door before it slowly opened.

Hello again, you know you saved a life today? Damn I thought maybe you’d become royalty or some shit. Skye began to laugh while hugging Tina.

Tina noticed how beautiful Skye looked in her navy blue and white outfit. Her wide shapely hips, plump bottom and ample bosoms fit her 5"9 plus size perfectly. With a flawless dark chocolate completion and high cheekbones, Skye was strikingly attractive.

They’re waiting for my doctor to decide if I need a C-section Tina shrugged her shoulders, trying to make light of the situation when she saw the concern in Skye’s eyes. Tina knew Skye didn’t like anything that involved surgery; in fact, she just recently accepted the fact that hospitals are a good place. Tina knew hospitals reminded Skye of the day her parents died.The baby is breach, so they’re waiting to see if it will turn itself. Tina began to pant trying to ease the pain. She didn’t want Skye to panic, yet inside she was screaming with worry. She continued to pray that her child would turn.

Why didn't you tell me this sooner? And where the hell is Mike? Skye asked as she looked around the room for some sign of him. I don't know I've been calling him most of the day. The calls are going straight to voice mail." Tina winced at the pain and her light brown eyes filled up with tears.

What is the office saying? Skye found a cloth and turned the cold water on.

That he has outside meetings all afternoon and that they aren’t sure if he’ll be back by closing to get my messages. Tina announced as she tried to find a comfortable position for the hundredth time, revealing her 5"9 frame was too long for the hospital bed.

Skye placing a wet cloth across Tina’s forehead, whispered, I don’t like it. How can he be out of touch when he knows his pregnant wife is about to deliver at any moment.

He has a job Skye! He’s not like Logan and owners the place, he can’t just leave when he wants to. Tina stated

Well Logan might own the place but he works just as hard, the difference is he puts his family first. Skye said in return.

Yea well Mike works in an office, but he also works in the field. Maybe there’s no reception where he is. Tina cried feeling another wave tightening her belly. Shit I don’t know! Tina shouted.

Skye laughed, The fact that you just said shit means being in labor is kicking your ass. She laughed as she feed Tina ice chips.

Real funny, Tina stated before screaming out in pain.

Skye rubbing Tina’s back said, Focus on something, an object or a song. Screaming only makes you more tired." She began to recite some of the tricks Yani taught her when she delivered Hassun.

Skye thinking Randall was right behind her, began dialling his number, she said a prayer he would answer. The phone rang three times before he said answered.

Bud where in the hell is your ass? Skye barked. Thinking he was somewhere feeding his face or shopping for clothes.

"Where the hell am I? That’s what you want to know? Where am I? Well I’m in the waiting room trying to get the fuck back there. That’s where I am. I don’t want to kill a pregnant woman and I damn sure don’t want to steal no baby. Yet, the Gestapo has me in this shitty ass room like that is exactly what I’m going to do! Randall shouted.

Well excuse me! Skye yelled back. Just hold tight I’ll get you back here. Skye envisioned Randall’s tall, slightly muscular frame pacing the floor. The nurses are probably drooling over his well-dressed statue, dreaming they could be the one to turn him straight.

"I’m serious Skye if you think I’m spending my time sitting in this ugly ass room while these assholes gawk at me, you’re crazier than I think. Randall exploded.

I said I’ll get you back here. In the meantime, will you do me a favor? First and try and find Mike? Skye was getting really pissed off where Mike was concerned.

Skye, how the fuck am I suppose to do that? I’m IT security at High Tide, standing in a hospital waiting room, not the CIA or some shit. The only thing I can do is call him. Just like your ass. Randall barked.

Skye could tell he wished he had kept his black ass home. Whatever Bud! Skye shouted before hanging up the phone. Skye knew Randall was right, but sometimes he could driver her crazy. Especially at times like this when he got all pissy.

She was going to remind him that it was his idea to be here when the baby was born, not hers. They were closer than close, he was her brother, friend and confidant. She had given him the name Bud, because when he finally came out the closet he began to bloom. He had brought her through some hard times and she had returned the favor ten times over. They had an undeniable bond that was unbreakable. Like most siblings, they fought like cats and dogs too.

Skye told Tina that Bud was in the waiting room having a baby himself. They both laughed and spent the next few minutes reminiscing on their time as friends.

The nurse came in and told Tina that the doctor had arrived and would be in to see her soon. Skye could see the relief in Tina’s eyes. As she had so many times before, Skye rubbed Tina’s back and assured her that everything was going to be okay. Once again, Skye thanked God for the easy time she’d had in delivering Hassun. It was a blessing not having any complications or a lot of pain.

Mike looked over at his ringing phone. He knew it was Tina calling for the umpteen time. The last place he wanted to be was in a hospital room listening to her scream and holler. He was happy to a degree about the baby and maybe if it was a few months ago he would be jumping for joy, but, it was too little too late at this point. Women had babies without the fathers there every day. Shit, it was going to come regardless of who’s in the room, not to mention the fact that he wouldn’t change his scenery for a million dollars right now.

Watching Latoya suck his dick was hypnotizing. The way she worked the head was magic. Yeah, Latoya beat out the alternative. He had paid top dollar for a good blowjob, before, but thanks to the new woman in his life, he got it free of charge anytime and anywhere he wanted now. Latoya, always ready to please, knew exactly what he liked and gave it to him at the drop of a hat.

Mike no longer asked Tina to service him this way. His begging days were over. After her three attempts to blow him, she said it wasn’t her thing. I'm Doctor Smith and I need to see if that little one has decided to turn around. These things happen and believe me it's not as serious as it use to be, say around fifteen or twenty years ago." He explained as he looked at the graphs that printed from the machine beside Tina's bed.

If you don't mind, I would like to examine Mrs. McNair. He stated in a tone that let Skye know he was asking her to leave.

No problem Doctor. Tina I’ll be back soon. She said as she left the room. Walking down the long corridor Skye could see Randall looking out the huge bay windows.

Approaching she told him, The doctor is examining her now. Filling him in on Tina’s condition, she put her arms around his waist and said, They will let us know something soon." Skye hugging Randall's neck, kissing him on the lips.

The two stood together as they looked out the window. Skye was concerned about the baby, Tina and Mike. Skye deciding to put in a call to her mother-in-law Yani for some insight and knowledge was happy when she picked up. Yani has become her go to person for any and everything. It wouldn't be a stretch if she said Yani more of a mother than she was mother-in-law.

Skye was happy to hear Yani's voice on the other end of line."Wingapo nek" Skye announced her greeting of, hello mother in the Algonquian language.
