About this ebook

"My skin was on fire, burning with desire and the knowledge that no matter what my logical mind was saying, I was going to do this. I was hot and ready, my pulse thundering in my ear. The air I breathed was even thicker now, and laced with lust. Mine. His.

I slid my eyes down to his mouth. His lips were slightly parted and I could see the tips of his fangs. Vampire fangs. This was crazy. Ridiculous.

I licked my bottom lip with my own tongue, wondering what those fangs would taste like. Where was my mind? What was happening to it?

The doubt disappeared as soon as it emerged, and I was pulled back in.

I was the one that stepped into him and stood on my toes to kiss him. He dipped his head because he was that much taller, and when our lips connected that magic crawled through my body again. His lips were just short of fire.

“This is so wrong,” I mumbled against his lips. And yes, it was wrong. It wasn’t who I usually was. It wasn’t what I usually did. But God help me, it was who I was now.

He backed me up so that my thighs hit the desk. I bent one leg and lifted it. He put a hand underneath it and jacked it up.

He was between my legs, pressing against me, my core aching for him now that he was this close. My skirt rode up. The only thing keeping it from going up all the way over my hips was his body keeping it roughly in place.

He reached behind my neck and pulled my hair loose. It fell over my shoulders in waves and he grabbed a handful. It didn’t hurt. It was the delicious kind of pain. If he kept at it, I was going to melt right through my panties."

There wasn’t really an ending, the book just kind of dropped off with no resolution to her being human and pregnant with his kid.

This book was a great read but it really needs a book 2; it ends when the guy finds out she is pregnant and they still had so much to work through can I have a book 2 because I feel like I was left hanging

Chapter 1

Vampires aren’t going to be in a city, I said. I elbowed a teenager out of the way that didn’t even bother looking up from the screen of his cellphone. I glared at him over my shoulder, just in case he was looking.

Let’s just agree to disagree on this, okay Em?

Lauren was behind me. The mall was so full there wasn’t space to walk shoulder to shoulder. Arguing with someone was a lot harder when they were behind you.

Come on, you can’t make stupid statements like that and not expect your friends to make fun of you. Sure, the preternatural world exists, but we’re talking rural.

I looked over my shoulder and smiled at her.

She rolled her eyes and managed to catch up when there was a lull in the human traffic.

Just because we live in a city doesn’t mean we’re immune to them.

I shrugged. We lived in a society where preternatural creatures were part of life.

They’d been officially discovered somewhere in the fifties, and along with women’s rights and racial equality they were allowed to live around us, as long as they kept a low profile. The existence of vampires was scary to many, but the creatures mostly kept out of the cities, which meant we could avoid them if we wanted to.

We found the exit and left the mall, bursting free of the crowd and into the sunlight.

God, that was crowded. Remind me never to come again at month’s end. I took a deep breath. Winter was on its way – I could smell it.

I’m just saying that maybe Professor Turton wasn’t lying when he said he saw one.

We walked to Lauren’s car and got in. I arranged my packages at my feet.

I’m just saying that he’s an ass everyone will believe, even if he’s lying.

We both studied a degree in Psychology and Social Sciences including the preternatural world, now that we might have to face them.

I don’t even know why he hasn’t kicked you out of his class yet, challenging him like that all the time, Emma.

I shrugged and watched the scenery slide by as we drove to my place. When Lauren parked in front of the apartment building she sighed.

I’ll see you later. I’m picking you up at seven. Be ready.

I’m always ready.

She rolled her eyes at me. She was mad that we were arguing. I always argued with her – it was the best part of our friendship. I nudged her but she ignored me.

You know I love you, I said, leaning over the gearshift to hug her.

She hugged me and smiled half a smile.

I know you’re full of shit.

I pulled a tongue at her and got out. In some ways it seemed like Lauren and I were never going to grow up. I pushed open the front door and made my
