Welcome to another in the Legends of Rock & Roll series.

This is, like the others, a mini-biography of one the greatest performers in the music world. This is the third of a series within a series covering the four members of, arguably, the greatest group in music history, The Beatles. I've already covered John Lennon and Paul McCartney, this one is about George Harrison.

This book is not about the Beatles.

While I know that you can’t write about George Harrison without considering the Beatles, the emphasis of this book is not the Beatles, but instead, the life and music of George Harrison as an individual and as a solo performer.

In this particular volume, like before, I will discuss George’s early life and his joining up with three other lads to create what is probably the greatest rock and roll group in the history of the world.

But it all ended at one point and George had a solo career after the Beatles broke up that continued to his death in 2001.

Come with me for a walk down memory lane as I review the life of George Harrison, and especially, the music that he produced. We'll visit each of his hits and find out how they came to be written or how they were recorded; and discuss any trivia that might be associated with the music. This book is about the man but even more importantly, it's about the music. This series is my way of honoring the people that have brought so much joy to our lives over the years.

It is an unauthorized fan tribute.

James Hoag has always been a big fan of Rock & Roll. Most people graduate from high school and then proceed to "grow up" and go on to more adult types of music. James got stuck at about age 18 and has been an avid fan of popular music ever since. His favorite music is from the Fifties, the origin of Rock & Roll and which was the era in which James grew up. But he likes almost all types of popular music including country music.After working his entire life as a computer programmer, he is now retired and he decided to share his love of the music and of the performers by writing books that discuss the life and music of the various people who have meant so much to him over the years.He calls each book a "love letter" to the stars that have enriched our lives so much. These people are truly Legends.

About the Author

Introduction

Much to my sorrow, I have never met or even seen George Harrison in person. Of course, now that he is gone, I never will. But George left behind a legacy that we can all share. Not just the music of the Beatles, but the songs he wrote after the group broke up. His solo career was very successful.

John Lennon was called the smart Beatle, Paul was the handsome or popular Beatle and George was known as the quiet Beatle. Ringo was just Ringo.

George, although quiet, was the lead guitarist for the group. He was the youngest of the four and probably got less publicity than the other three, but George’s contribution to the group and his solo work after the breakup deserve to be recognized.

I like George because he wrote and performed my favorite of all the Beatles songs. My Guitar Gently Weeps is a song I listen to over and over and is a wonderful piece of music. George wrote others, too, and while Paul and John got all the attention for song writing and performing, the Beatles wouldn’t have been the same if it weren’t for George.

Like John and Paul, George was born in Liverpool, Lancashire, England on February 25, 1943. According to imdb.com, a family record was found that claims he was born at 11:50 p.m. on the night of the 24th. If that’s true, then George spent most of his life
