Chapter One: Under Pressure
So I was crossing the city park, lugging this giant sack of parts for my Secret Science Project behind me, when I saw my best friend, Kelly Diaz, outside Mac King’s Clubhouse O’ Magic with Mac’s monkey assistant, Lewis.
The fact that both of them were standing on the sidewalk holding glass tumblers of water, and the fact that Kelly’s rare goldfish, Tex, was inside one of them, didn’t impress me in the least. As an accomplished magician, I know the setup for a magic trick when I see one, and as an ace crime fighter, very little can faze me.
What, you don’t believe the crime fighter part?
It’s true! Absolutely!
Just the other day, headlines blasted across America about how good ol’ Harry Zimmerman (that’s me) had solved a bunch of mysteries and put the kibosh on the Salvage Sam gang.

Turns out Kelly was trying to teach a water trick to Lewis, something she calls Under Pressure,
and boy did she look it! Her mug was stamped with concentration. I could almost see the smoke coming out her ears.
In one hand she had the glass of fishy water. It was covered with a light piece of cardboard she was holding with her other hand. In one swift motion, she turned everything upside down…then she let go of the cardboard so it was the only thing between Tex’s happy life and a final flush to a more peaceful place.
But
