Daniel had to admit the woman seated on his faded red sofa looked like she belonged there. As she flipped through the photograph album on her knees, her long, dark hair framed her heart-shaped face and periwinkle-blue eyes just like a picture in that album. Those intense eyes studied every page, and occasionally she traced her finger along a photo.
She flipped another page and pointed. Is that your Gramma right there?
He sat down beside her to take a look. Yes, how’d you know?

Cephea touched the necklace Daniel had given her, with the blue crystal shaped liked a teardrop.
She’s been gone ten years now. But I still miss her. Guess I was closer to her than my own mother.
Not that his mother wasn’t good to him. He just didn’t have a chance to know her before she died of the cancer when he was five. Seems like he was always losing folks
