Prepping for a Trip to Maui
Before you embark on a trip to Maui, you have to be fully prepared so as to avoid unnecessary inconveniences, embarrassment, or unforeseen expenses. So as to have maximum fun and visit as many places as possible, there are several things that you should never miss in your packing list.
To begin with, you must ensure that you have this guidebook when travelling to Maui. With this book you’ll know places to visit, where you can stay, what you can eat, and fun-full activities you can engage in. This book will help you save time as you’ll be more organized.
You must also carry a fully equipped medical kit that contains painkillers, bandages, disinfectants, and alcohol towels. If you have a medical condition that requires special treatment, consult your doctor for a full list of drugs that you must carry with you.
When preparing for a trip to Maui, don’t forget to pack toiletries including toothbrush and toothpaste, lotion, shampoo, hairbrush, deodorant, and body wash. By carrying these toiletries, you won’t have to spend extra money buying new toiletries.
Maui is full of beaches, trails, reefs, forests, trails, and many more attractive sites. This means that you need different types of clothing when visiting this island. You should carry flip flops, water shoes, casual walking shoes, bathing suits, swim trunks, shorts, t-shirts, beach cover ups, casual trousers, hats, and sun screen. Don’t forget to carry gloves and a waterproof coat to keep you warm during the evenings and early in the morning before sunrise. They will also come in handy if you’re planning to witness the spectacular Haleakala sunrise.
When exploring the beautiful island of Maui, you might encounter vicious bugs unexpectedly. As a matter of fact, you’re likely to encounter these bugs on the Road to Hana. This means that you must have bug spray before embarking on a trip to Maui.
Apart from the backpack and/or suitcase in which you have kept your belongings, don’t forget to bring an extra bag. This bag will be used to carry food and drinks when travelling to remote locations within the island. It will also be used to carry souvenirs back home after the trip.
A trip to Maui will be one of the most memorable trips that you’ll ever have. You must therefore do something to keep the memories of this trip. You should carry one (or more) high definition digital camera with several memory cards. This way you’ll be guaranteed enough memory storage regardless of the number of pictures you decide to take. Don’t forget to carry water cameras because you might decide to take photos while swimming, surfing, snorkeling, or exploring the magnificent marine life in Maui. You also need a pair of binoculars to help you clearly see distant flora, fauna, and geographical features.
When in this island, you’ll be carrying credit cards, notebooks or cash during the day. This means that you need a waterproof waist pack to carry the cash, keys, and a small notebook. By keeping your property in the waterproof waist pack, you’ll protect them from damage when hiking, snorkeling, or surfing.
You can carry books, magazines, your tablet, or playing cards to keep you busy at the beach or during the evenings. You must also ensure that your phone is loaded with your favorite music. The music will keep you entertained when hiking or if you decide to stroll in the park or run during the evenings.
On top of all the stuff that you’ll carry when visiting Maui, you must have enough cash to sustain you throughout your stay in this island. You’ll use the money to travel to Maui, rent a car, book a hotel (or a place to stay), purchase meals, pay entrance charges to exclusive sites, and buy souvenirs. You must also carry extra cash for emergencies.
Regardless of how prepared you are, something might still go wrong. For instance, you can fall ill suddenly or get injured. This means that you need travel insurance. It is always advisable that tourists should seek insurance coverage before leaving their homes.
Once you’ve properly prepared for a trip to this Island, you can get there using a cruise ship or an airliner. If you decide to use an airliner, you’ll fly to Kahului International Airport. Even though there are two more airports in Maui, Kahului is the only airport that can be accessed from mainland US or any other country. Access to Kahului international airports is restricted to Jet and other smaller planes. Jumbo jets such as the Boeing Dreamliner cannot fly to or out of this airport. From this airport you can conveniently and quickly access Kaanapali, Kihei, Lahaina, and Wailea. It will take you less than an hour to access any of these areas.
