About this ebook
Memoirs of the Human Wraiths
While recovering from the recent loss of his parents, Daniel Donnelly receives a phone call from his estranged aunt, who turns over control of the family fortune and estate, Timber Manor. Though his father seemed guarded about the past, Daniel’s need for family and curiosity compel him to visit.
Located in a secluded area of the Northwest, Timber Manor has grown silent over the years. Her halls sit empty and a thin layer of dust adorns the sheet-covered furniture. When Daniel arrives to begin repairs, strange things happen. Nightmares haunt his dreams. Memories not his own disturb his waking hours. Alive with the tragedies of the past, Timber Manor threatens to tear Daniel apart.
Sheriff Hale Davis grew up working on the manor grounds. Seeing Daniel struggle, he vows protect the young man who captured his heart, and help him solve the mystery behind the haunting and confront the past—not only to save Daniel’s life, but to save his family, whose very souls hang in the balance.

Reviews for The Haunting of Timber Manor

- Rating: 3 out of 5 stars3/5For a first novel it is pretty well done. There is a bit more telling, rather than showing, for my taste but writing is a craft that is learned over time. While I didn't mind alternating POV for Daniel and Hale I could have done without the POV chapters from Carol, Francine and "it". A lot of it was needless backstory that really didn't move the plot forward.
We're I editing this I would watch out for repetitive sentence beginnings. A least one chapter had almost every sentence starting with the word "I".
However, the concept of the story was a good one. The romance between the two heroes was a sweet one and the sex scenes were not too overdone. They nicely moved the relationship forward.
The characters were nicely developed and portrayed well. Though slow in spots, with the info dumps, I was caught up in the story by about 50 pages in and wanted to finish it.
The author needs a web site so I know what is coming next and when because I will be interested to see his talent develop. - Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5CA: brief homophobic language and attitudes from the villain; illness, specifically cancerWhen his parents die unexpectedly, Daniel is contacted by an aunt he barely knows and told the family money and estate will now be his. His aunt is lovely, and Hale, the town sheriff, becomes a fast friend and more. But the house is... probably haunted? By something pretty evil. I enjoyed this read well enough (I read it in two sittings on Halloween weekend, and that was fun), but I kept wanting more from it. More scariness, more development of Daniel and Hale's relationship, more atmosphere. And I never got it. As soon as you think you know what might be going on, you're right. The love story is nice enough. It pretty much embodies a three-and-a-half-star read: I was entertained; I'll remember some bits of it; it's not a favorite; I'll probably give Feeley a go again.
