About this ebook

Bringing a passionate twist to the epic "Cinderella" story, Kathy is a young lady who is forced to put her own dreams, needs, and longings on hold as she spends years lovingly caring for her dying mother, then forced for years to barely get by as a waitress, while trying to pay off her mother's unpaid medical bills. Kathy has spent years caring for the needs of others, denying her own longing to be with a man, leaving her full of pent up cravings and desires, stifled by the loneliness of economic isolation, until Pete walked into her life. Thirteen years of unsatisfied needs, the longing to be touched, to be held, to be loved, can Pete handle the flood gates of unbridled passion he is about to discover?

    Introduction

Boredom – a mental state experienced when an individual is left without anything in particular to do, is not interested in his or her surroundings, or feels that a day or period is dull or tedious, and nothing described Kathy’s life better.

Honorably abandoning her hopes and dreams for a career, choosing out of love and devotion to stay home as the soul caregiver to her dying mother, Kathy suffered the slow agonizing daily regime of watching cancer chew away at the woman who had raised her, loved her in spite of all her flaws, and constantly encouraged her to move on with her life.

Burdened by delinquent taxes, the flood wave of rising medical debts, and the constant wonder of how next week’s medications will be paid for, Kathy toiled on, the brave little soldier that her mother knew she was.

At 21 years of age, when most women where out dating or getting engaged, Kathy spent her free time on her hands and knees, scrubbing floors, the toilet, the bathtub, trying to keep areas used by her mother as germ free as possible. When her mother wasn’t sleeping, the side effects of the chemotherapy would have her retching the contents of her stomach out onto the floor, as there was little time to find, or little strength, to aim into a pail or bucket.

Restrained by the high cost of a hospital bed, Kathy tried everything in her power to give her mother the best care possible at home, but as she watched her mother slowly die over a 2 ½ year period, Kathy found something inside of her dying as well. Bound to the tedious tasks of each day, dreams were lost to exhaustion, and too little sleep, and even her own clothing began to wear out, as there was no time or money to escape to a mall to shop. Groceries were delivered to the door, as were her mother’s medications.

The quiet evening moments found Kathy stroking her mother’s cheek or forehead while singing softly lullaby’s to encourage her to sleep.

Day in and day out, Kathy’s life did not change, until the eventual day when her mother passed. There was no money for a burial plot, and no money for a fancy funeral. With no further need for her mother’s weekly medications, Kathy found herself left with just enough for the most basic of cremations, and two days later, her mother’s ashes were returned to her, not in a fancy urn, but in a cardboard box with tape around the seams, and a bland name tag on the surface.

For three days, Kathy sat in her mother’s home, falling in and out of sleep, waking to cry and sob herself back to sleep. For the last 2 ½ years, her whole world had revolved around her beloved mother, and Kathy found herself now
