His story, laced with dry humor, tells of many experiences as he grew older, of life in the underworld, rubbing shoulders with some of New Zealand's most notorious criminals, including meeting up with Terry Clarke, the infamous "Mr. Asia". the notorious Australasian drug dealer and murderer. Told with a brutal frankness, his story and language reveals experiences which only those who have endured life on the "inside" can relate to. Today, Shak, who must obviously remain anonymous, is now a truly reformed and up-right member of society and a devoted family man with a warning message to those who may be tempted to experiment with drugs, particularly amphetamines known in N.Z as "P" or "Ice" in Australia.

Former journalist and entrepreneur Richard Tomkies traveled the world and immigrated to Canada and lived briefly in the United States where he has many connections. Now residing in the northern tropical part of Australia where he spends most of his time researching and writing books.
