About this ebook

Ash Sabien, a born mortal witch, was meant to be an immortal guardian, as was Soren Wade. But they were never meant to be lovers, which is why Ash fought the pull to him, sometimes venomously.
Days before the sacred holiday of the Day of the Dead a message was sent to their coven: diairoúmeno aíma enós epistrofí̱ sou.
It was a call to rise, a call to hunt what was revered by their coven and use it to stop evil. The honor of the hunt was given to Ash and Soren. When Ash rushed to tell Soren of the mystery before them the last thing she expected was to walk in on Soren with another girl. She bolted. He chased her.
Neither one of them saw the truck.
Neither one of them felt the pain.
Death came like a thief in the night.
Ash knew as she stared at the tragic scene that she’d failed her fate, they both had. She let herself feel, care—and now there was no telling what could happen because she had.

In death could they rise? In death could they finish the hunt and save more than them, more than their coven...?

    Chapter One

Nope. No, no freakin’ way. I should not call him.

Ash Sabien was having one of her legendary arguments with herself, the kind where lucidity and desire clash. Lucidity always won out when it came to her twenty-two year old mindset, a truth that had earned her more strife than reward in almost every walk of her life, sad but true.

I wanted to tick him off and I did, simple, she thought as her shaky hand rushed through her edgy, blonde cut. She swore on in her thoughts as she paced the bedroom under the staircase in her aunt’s historic mansion—aka her current hiding spot. The room led to a secret passage. At its end was the family library, where the ancient scrolls and written prophecies were kept. She was supposed to be sneaking in and looking up something for her sister who was back at campus, but at the moment, she needed a second to pace, to swear, to feel her heart break with regret—to become unraveled, something she’d never let another soul see her do.

Nothing was ever as it seemed in Ash’s life. The depth of emotions along with the wicked web of her twisted fate warped far below the public image she and her family displayed.

On the surface, she was one of the twin Sabien girls, a diligent student, a hard catch when it came to a hook up, and rumored to be a young witchling in training.

Behind the scenes, she was a born guardian to her sister Raven who would rise and defeat a dark deity. Ash shared her guardianship with her twin River and a boy who would proudly confirm that she was, indeed, a hard catch—Soren Wade.

A flash of his jade stare full of anger and frustration crossed Ash’s mind which birthed a whole new slew of curse words followed by well-thought-out facts and reasons stating why they should not be together, why she had to show him the hard way that she meant what she’d said.

A chill rushed down her spine as her latest method—what Soren thought he caught her doing—flashed in her mind.

    Too many damn family secrets.

The family secret was not that they were all witches, or that her parents were immortals. It was the fact that the generation whom will usher in the Rapture had been born. Rapture is by definition a glorious word that should bring anything but chilling fear. But the truth of the matter is the sensation of glory, exaltation, and bliss is best realized after a time of great pain.

Only those in the inner circle of the Dominarum coven knew the pain of Ash’s younger sister Raven being fated to rise and fight a dark deity. The task was long and hard, and even though across the last twenty years they’d fought darkness on the most gruesome level, the war had yet to really begin. Each day needed to be spent preparing. They should be selfless and focused. At least, that is how Ash saw it to be.

They were all seventeen before they realized what was coming at them, why they
