About this ebook
When Bindra contracts leprosy, she is driven from her home in the Himalayan foothills with her two small sons and embarks upon a seemingly impossible course in search of salvation. David's first journey to India is driven by devastating loss, and yet he finds unexepected solace in the discovery of an exceptional family legacy, and insights offered by an unorthodox mountain tradition. As these individual journeys progress their stories are woven together, cultural differences are dissolved, and an extraordinary relationship is formed which forges unanticipated changes in both their lives.
In the Shadow of Crows is a remarkable account of love and loss, a lyrical ode to the wonderful and terrible beauty of India, and a masterly meditation on the interweaving of separate lives.

- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5Agree with all below. Love India and know it well, but learned so much from this book. Highly recommended. Should be on every travel company's standard reading list.
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5A modern classic. I love India and I love this book. A must for anyone with any interest in the Subcontinent, its cultures and peoples. I have already read 'In the Shadow of Crows' twice and found both times equally educational, moving (to tears!) and inspiring. What a story! And what a writer! I want a shelf of books by this man!
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5I was hooked from the beginning. Each chapter is so masterfully constructed that all you want to do is turn the next page. It is so beautifully and poetically written you are transported to another world, and find yourself enlightened by the journey.
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5Finished this book last night and feel bereft without it! Really loved this read, so vivid, so evocative that it has been haunting my dreams. It is as though I know these people personally, as though I have loved these children. Inspiring, harrowing, beautiful - and important. Top marks.
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5The beautiful, quirky language and characters in this book captivated and moved me. I laughed, I cried and felt as though I had undertaken a great personal journey, at the conclusion of which I stepped away enlightened. I am now reading it for a second time (very rare for me) and finding even more that moves and inspires me. This book's a Gift!
