About this ebook

Only a villain can save the day. During his thousand year banishment in the Nethers, Balthazar thought of nothing but taking over the Crossroads from Death. On the day he puts his plans into action, Balthazar finds the Crossroads on lockdown. Death has been stabbed by Brianne's Bitterness, a blade that slowly leaches him of his powers. In order to challenge Death for his seat and prevent utter chaos, Balthazar is forced into a mission to find the Redeemer, the only being capable of pulling out the blade from Death's chest. The only person who can identify the Redeemer is a human girl in the Crossroads whose soul is still attached to her body. Meeting Arianne Wilson pushes Balthazar's patience to the limit. In a deal he makes with Death, he must protect Arianne during their journey through the Underverse using all the resources available to him. He soon realizes the one he needs to protect is himself. For as much harm as it inflicts on Balthazar's body, trekking through the Underverse with Arianne is proving more dangerous for his heart and soul. Can the villain remain a villain when love gets in the way?

Ms. Evangelista has done it again. She has written a book to enthrall you and leave you wanting more. what a great 2nd book to the reaper series. I cannot wait for the third.Arianne is amazing. I love her snarkiness towards Balthazar. Her confusion though on her feelings is going to get her in deep doodoo and the ending doesn't help. Holy toledo boledo on that ending what a cliffhanger. Here we see a Arianne that is confident when she doesn't feel it, beautiful in how she deals with the situation, compassionate when she shouldn't be and kind even in the face of evil. After everything she went through to have Death do what he did she still believes but than at the end that has to shatter someone.Balthazar is so fun. I loved him. He was not always nice and trying to change Arianne's mind about Nicolas not nice. Remember Balthazar people can change and when love is involved they definitely can. Look at yourself there as Arianne warms your heart you have many acts of kindness towards her. You are quite the protective guy and this does make you irresistible. His anger though whoosh that is scary. Death did a number on you I must say.A story that is adventurous and yet shows the lengths one goes for love and compassion. So beautifully written and entertaining with a ending that will have you clamoring for more.

Reaping Me SoftlyBy Kate EvangelistaI was introduced to this series by all the publicity of the second book (Unreap My Heart). After, being thoroughly intreged by the second books I found the first one and promply paid the $.99 fee. I swiftly became enwraptured by the story. At first I was very unconvinced by the contriteness of the plot- girl is secretly in love with boy then they fall head over heels for the other…Romeo and Juliet and happily every after. I thankfully stomached this seemingly predictable plot and began to find great differences in what I had expected. The plot took one turn after another and at about 3am after 5 solid hours of reading and getting 85% of the way through the book I decided I not only love this book and the characters, but I never wanted it to end, so I promptly fell asleep. Moral of the story this book was everything I hoped for yet nothing I anticipated. For starters, writing style if a large facet of what keeps me interested and entertained, without a strong AND bold style I become disinterested and not empathetic to the characters and events of the story. Evangelista’s writing was so interesting. The point of view her imagery had often made me pause to wonder how anyone could see such a simple thing in such a different light. I must say that some of her dialogue was lost to me due to how much teenage droll was used, and I understand these are teens we are talking about, but I am a sucker for a refined heroine. I also really enjoyed the choice to kill off main characters it was very really and unsettling. Lastly, and this is going back to my Romeo and Juliet comment, I enjoyed how Death had not only a huge part in the story but also had his own scenes. Constantly having Death in between the two other narratives was metaphorical and foreshadowed the future where Death would literally try to keep them apart as it had the aforementioned star-struck lovers. I must say though that I was not so thrilled with the ending. It was too surreal to have everything work out so plainly; it left not a bad taste but a bland one and then again there is the second book, so who knows what could come. (okay not going to front anymore, I have already started the second one, but I will say no more).
