Rich Girls of the Apocalypse - Kaye Wagner
Story: Rich Girls of the Apocalypse
Stop running.
A young prim and proper girl stumbled in her summer dress through the wide and spacious halls of a luxuriously decorated lobby, struggling to keep up with the rush of a dark haired woman in front of her. You’re making a scene, Marie.
Now stop saying that Anna,
The fancifully dressed Marie laughed at her words. You know I simply make a scene just by walking into a room, let alone jogging across a hall. No use fussing about it now.
She said in a haughty voice as she slowed down her steps and twirled around, letting her dress spin with her. You see this glowing beauty in front of you?
she stopped her spin amongst the casually dressed crowd, posing for the comparatively modest Anna with her knee-high dress. Don’t be jealous because I can make a scene and you can’t, sister.
Well I’m not.
Anna said flustered. You’re just making us late by running in the wrong direction, you fool.
Oh yeah,
Marie’s jaw dropped a bit in embarrassment as she looked around at their environment, seeing an open hall with many elevators made out of see through crystal glass, matching the interior and exterior of the building. Okay,
she continued. Where are we meeting Mom and Pop again? Tell me we’re in the right building? I’m not that off am I?
Almost.
Anna stepped forward before grabbing Marie’s hand. Just follow me. I swear you don’t listen when Mother talks, she explained to you this morning where to find them after our lessons were finished.
Well excuse me for blanking out whenever she speaks, it’s enough we have to live, eat, and breathe her rules every day—I can at least check my mind out whenever she drones on for an hour to chastise us.
She said complaining as they made their way towards an elevator to the far left of the room. Moving inside the glass building, the sunrays from the dusk sky began painting the insides of the crystalline structure, making a rainbow of colors shine within it. Besides,
Marie continued as they walked together through the thin crowd, stopping in front of the pristine glass elevator. I’m not the one getting in trouble with mother constantly to be scolded.
That’s only because you keep blaming me for all your mistakes, like lying to mother this morning saying I snuck a meal out the kitchen when that was you.
Sorry, but I can’t help but sneak a snack every once and a while, Mother’s diet regimen is starving me to death after all.
But your lies are crippling me with punishments—I lost this week’s
Free’ day because of you."
Don’t blame that on me, you had it coming with breaking curfew to study at the library of all places. What a waste, I would have spent that time partying.
She sighed. But you, the library it is, how dull and so you.
Well sorry for being me.
Anna said annoyed as the elevator door opened up, letting a few men in tailored leisure suits and women in
