About this ebook

Read the true life account of a WW II Airman assigned to a top secret mission..."A Drop in the Night, The Life and Secret Mission of a WW II Airman" preserves the story of Liberator flight engineer Royce A. Fulmer. Sworn to secrecy by the Office of Strategic Services, the precursor to the C.I.A., this mission can finally be revealed. "Operation Carpetbagger" was responsible for delivering supplies and spies, both men and women, deep into Nazi-occupied territory. Flying their Liberators only at night and at near stalling altitudes, these missions were uniquely dangerous.

"A Drop in the Night" beings to life the true story of Airman Fulmer, a poor boy from the backwoods of South Carolina. Based on interviews with Fulmer and extensive research from previously unavailable sources, the book traces how he survived childhood poverty in the rural south in the 1920s and '30s. The early origins of NASCAR are explained when Fulmer describes his dangerous time as a teenage bootlegger. With rich details provided in part in his own words, "A Drop in the Night" captures this man's fascinating life as a fatherless son, a WW II Airman, and a successful real estate developer who lost as many fortunes as he made. Fulmer's storytelling makes "A Drop in the Night" a unique book that highlights what it meant to be a 20th century hero.

When Royce Fulmer, my writing partner for "A Drop in the Night" finished his life at 91, I found myself beginning a new journey as a writer and publisher. Royce inspired me in so many ways. Through learning about his life as a child and young man, he helped me become a better mother to my four sons. He showed me through his adversity the strength of the human spirit. He taught me not to take myself so seriously, and that in the end, it's all abut the experiences you've had and the way you've treated others that matters. Now I continue my writing journey and am thankful and pretty amazed by the wonderful new people coming into my life. It really is all about the journey and I'm glad that mine is full of family, a toy poodle, gardening, meditation, and opportunities for growth.
