I have just come back from my first zinefest in NYC held at Barnard College. I also write fiction and my first book is called SLANTBOARD which takes place in the future where people can ride on boards that float a little off the ground nor do they go much over 10 miles and hour so they have a similar culture to long-distance bike riding. the signals sent from the stationary science

future all world floating AIRSHIPS were of JAM

they were a kind of call to prayer the kind

of MINDLESS fanaticism uttered in slurred

drunkenness of rote memory squeezed into

utterances most unpleasing to be heard and

smelled bad spoken by disrespectful breath

the tower of disturbance turned to jelly or

jam really since it contained CHUNKS of

gray matter were shrinking human brains

thoughts were FORBIDDEN and prayer was

STAMPED into dogma not truly heartfelt but

demanded what heart demands obedience by

rote what heart bleeds for straps to backs

what heart and what toast calls for JAM
