Dedication
I dedicate Highway 11 to Eternity:
To my Father and my Mother,
To my Soul-Sister who was afraid to look into the Darkness of Infinity,
To all those whom I have met, read, or heard,
To all the words that came across my path in shaping my story from Source to Infinity.
Inspiration shared with my friend Georges
As we listened together to the music you love, you asked me many times what goes through composers’ minds when they are writing some great work. What did Beethoven feel when he was composing his Fifth Symphony or Rachmaninoff when he was jotting down the notes of his Second Piano Concerto?
I do not know, my dear friend and, even if I did know, it would be only a tiny fraction of what could have been stirring their minds and hearts when they gave to the world these works of tremendous creative power.
You told me you wished you had learned music so you could understand it and I told you that I on the contrary had to unlearn music in order to enter the realm of its true understanding. So as you see, you and I have now reached the same point together although coming by two different roads.
I have imagined this story as a journey to discover this unknown, a story into which I have tried to weave the encounters we made in our search for answers. Or, I wonder, was it rather that unknown which wove its way through us?
You said that you do not know Brahms. I have chosen excerpts from his works, my favourite ones.
Shireen Maluf.
Departure
Image349.JPGA few months ago, a professor of music died. He was advanced in years and had spent his whole life teaching music. With a refined talent for analysis and comprehending structures, he had built up a well-established reputation in teaching music analysis. Any musical composition, no matter how complex it seemed, became comprehensible at the hands of this professor. His students loved him and were very sad when he departed from planet Earth.
Once on the other side of the veil, the old professor arrived on another plane of existence. There was no need for him to carry a briefcase anymore and walk to college. Actually there were no colleges at all – at least not in the sense of concrete buildings with numerous classrooms and faded walls. He was welcomed by the inhabitants of this new world. They were subtle beings, gentle and understanding. Nothing they would say could be harmful or hurtful for they resonated at the frequency of Light.
The new world community showed respect and admiration for the Professor’s abilities and earthly history of teaching as a profession. In fact, this community held a special esteem for teaching in general. The teacher was recognized with particular reverence as the messenger of information and the opener of minds and imparter of knowledge.
Many months went by while the Professor was adapting to his new life. This realm was peaceful and of utmost beauty. Open space spread in every direction wherever he turned his eyes. Gardens with flowers and trees and plants of every description presented scenes that enchanted the senses. It was a rich environment in every meaning of the word. Magical charm abounded on all sides. What especially attracted the Professor’s attention was the vibrant intensity of the colours. Every shade glowed in the depths of its intensity.
Much the same could be said of the sounds. The Professor could tune into the call of the whales in the darkest depths of the ocean. Acuteness of perception the Professor found to be natural on this plane of existence, growing ever more in tune with surroundings as one grew up.
This heightened sensitivity was what made people live together in harmony, for it made them naturally tune into one another. Paradoxically, it also enhanced awareness of their own individuality, for the need to connect to one’s essential frequency is a prerequisite to any form of successful communication with others.
People in this higher realm rarely conversed and when they did, their words sang. Their utterances were like musical phrases, fluid, with the meaning already interwoven into the tone itself. They were masters of the craft of weaving symbolic meanings into words and of linking them together. When these people spoke, it was as if jewels were tumbling out of their hearts.
The Professor was very happy being in this world. Over the first few months, he felt his heart was opening up, like the petals of a delicate flower unfolding to the benevolence of its surroundings. Throughout his life on earth he had felt as if a heavy stone lay on
