About this ebook

Fed up with her terrible triplet brothers, Loula decides it’s time her parents made her a sister. But they explain it isn’t that simple — it takes special “ingredients.” With Gilbert, the chauffeur, the plucky girl gathers everything she needs. Then she waits and waits, and nothing happens … until a hungry visitor arrives. Sweet with a generous dollop of humor, this is a satisfying story about not getting exactly what you want and perhaps enjoying it all the more.

ARC provided by NetGalleyLoula is FED up!, with a capital F even! of her terrible triplet brothers, always teasing and being so much boy. And Loula tells her parents it high time they made her a sister! They tell her that it takes special “ingredients” to make that happen though. So Loula, with the trusty advice of her chauffeur Gilbert, sets out to make a new sister happen. And maybe, just maybe, her wish will come true.In Loula, Anne Villenuve has created a character with personality, charm, and life that anyone can relate to, especially young girls. I mean after all who growing up didn’t decide and tell their parents that they wanted a new brother or sister? And if someone told you they knew what ingredients to gather to make it happen, how could you not trust them? Anne Villeneuve accurately captures what we all experience. And how can you not love Gilbert? We all know someone like him, someone that will play along with a young one to help make their wish come true. The illustrations are absolutely gorgeous and done in watercolor. They fit the theme of the book very well, and again harken back to a time period of the 40's/50's. We get just the bare inklings of what everything looks like, which makes it easier to imagine ourselves in those spots. This is a great book for you and old alike, with the reminder that sometimes wishes come true in the most unexpected of ways. 4 out of 5 stars.
