INTRODUCTION

Poetry means different things to different people. However, I believe that all who have turned to this tuneful art can attest to the power within the realm. All forms of writing hold some attraction; especially for the uninitiated but poetry transcends all other forms in both appeal and rhythm. Poetry is fire, passion, emotion and intricate symbolism combined in flowing form. As such it can transform your existence within moments of coming in contact with it. Genuine poetry can communicate before it is understood. Nothing stirs up one’s emotions as profoundly as genuine poetry. Unlike other forms of writing, poetry paints more vivid images that threaten to burst forth from the very page you’re reading from. Such is the power within those concurrent lines. The words speak to your soul in a way you can’t explain and it is a blessing to be able to produce such moments. Beyond the thrill of writing itself comes a transient appeal that cannot be explained. We can create the moments we long for, fulfil or deepest desires all in one page as long as the lines continue to flow. I believe that at that moment when you start writing, something takes over from the deepest recesses of your being. I still cannot quite explain the entire phenomenon and I doubt I would ever be able to do so. It is one of those mysteries that only nature can unravel.
