Ever since I was a little boy I have had a vivid imagination, seeing stories and tales in everything and everywhere. I found that it was time to put the multitude of stories out for people to read and hopefully enjoy. My stories range from a variety of experiences, to trigger influences that cause me to think and imagine, then I write the ideas down and develop them into a short, medium or long story. The UK, Canada and the US have been my home at different times, I now reside in Maryland enjoying writing and my family. As for my novels, my first being Artificial Insurgents, are also triggered by experiences, current events and an intriguing application of ideas to create characters and plots that deceive and excite the reader.I hope you will enjoy the tales and stories as they take you through an imaginative mind that knows no bounds.Nicholas Crabtree/a.k.a. Just Another Day on the Farm

Mishka, a four-year-old, very large female German shepherd looked around the farmyard at all her charges to make sure they were all safe. She was the security guard of her owner’s farm, taking care of keeping foxes away from the chickens, coyotes away from the sheep, and generally guarding every type of animal her owners kept.

Once in a while though, she became negligent in her duties due to pure boredom and would wander down toward the stream beyond the back fields. On the way to the stream, she had come across a muddy ravine with a mossy bottom and on one or two trips by she thought she had seen some movement, only to dismiss it as field mice scurrying away at her presence, or birds fleeing for height in the trees.

It was a beautiful, bright, sunshiny day. No predator had visited the farm for a long time, so she decided to take a break and go take a dip in the stream. Over the hill she went, down the other side and onward to the stream, but as she approached the ravine off to the left side of the path leading down into the woods, she heard a terrible commotion.

She ran as fast as her four legs could carry her to the edge of the ravine, but stopped short so as not to scare away any animals that may be in the ravine. She stopped short of the edge, lowered herself to the ground, then crawled on her belly to the edge and peered over.

She could not believe her eyes! As she looked over the edge, she saw little people arguing with one another. On one side of the ravine were tiny humans about the size of salt shakers, all dressed in black and shouting in tiny, squeaky voices. They were shouting at tiny little people of the same size on her side of the bank dressed in normal looking farming clothes. It seemed there was some kind of dispute going on, but they were not shouting in the normal human speak that Mishka was used to.

She edged sideways to get a slightly better view. The little ones in black had tiny swords about the size of toothpicks, and shields resembling buttons. In fact, she
