Childhood and Growing Up
Abraham Lincoln was born on February 12, 1809, in rural Kentucky. His parents were Thomas and Nancy Hanks Lincoln. He had an older sister, Sarah, and a younger brother named Thomas. Thomas died when he was a baby.
Abe grew up in a poor household. In 1817, the family moved to Perry County, Indiana.
