About this ebook

The giraffe is the tallest animal alive today. A male giraffe can be taller than a two-story house!
Giraffes look a bit like a horse with a very long neck and long legs.
Their front legs are longer than their back legs. That is why their back slopes down toward their rump.
They also have very thin, long tails. There is a bunch of black fur at the end of their tail. This bunch of fur is called a tuft.
They use their long tail to swat flies and other bugs off their skin.
A giraffe's legs are so long that he has to walk funny. Most animals move the front foot on one side and the back foot on the other side at the same time.
A giraffe moves both legs on one side of its body. Then it moves the legs on the other side of its body.
This book is a shortened version of our popular “Giraffes: Long-Necked Wonders" and is intended for beginning readers. With only 1294 easy to read words, young children can experience for themselves the joy of learning about the giraffe. They will find out the answers to these questions:
How long does it take a baby giraffe to grow up?
What color is a giraffe's tongue?
How long will a giraffe go without water?
How big is a giraffe's foot?
Why do giraffe's have such long eyelashes?
And many more!
