About this ebook

The campsite known as Ridge River has a reputation of abrupt storms that are never recorded on radar, but more importantly, it and the storm’s reputation have been built on ghastly legend known as the War Ghost. The legend dates all the way back to the Civil War, when a baby died and woman lost her husband. Now the legend states she doesn’t allow men to step foot near her property.
From a young age, Tyler Rows was told the legend of the War Ghost and for years he’s believed his father and grandfather were both crazy for thinking the tale was even marginally true. But when Ty and his girlfriend Claire go camping and are caught in a storm. Without their tent, they seek shelter and when they find it, they also find more than they bargained for. Is the legend true?

To my friend, fellow author and editor, Theresa. Thank you for your advice and support through my journey as an author.

It was that time of the year again. Spring break had once again made its way around the calendar. Every high school and college student had been making plans for months in advance, and nineteen-year-old Tyler Rows was no exception. He had plans to go camping with his girlfriend, Claire Main.

For the past week, Tyler had been watching the weather reports like a hawk, and luck had been on his side. Sun was predicted all week with warm nights in the high seventies. It was going to be a perfect getaway for both of them.

The week before last, Ty had surprised Claire on their two-year anniversary with camping gear. She started jumping and crying with excitement, as they had always spoken of going camping on the Ridge River campsite, about an hour from Ty’s house. It was beautiful there. A shallow stream ran along rocks and lead to a waterfall. Clear, sparkling water cascaded down boulders and along ferns into a deeper, wider section of the river. But few people visited the area due to a ghost story some old folks had made up long ago, dating back to the Civil War.

Tyler rolled his eyes at the thought of the legend. His father believed it. Even his grandfather had believed it, too, but to Ty, it was a bunch of old men’s tales. He hadn’t even believed the legend when he was younger.

But there was one strange thing about the area that matched the story—Ridge River was known for its unpredictable, abrupt storms that didn’t show on radar. That was what baffled Ty, but he believed the older men had placed
