About this ebook
Through her poems in Evening Sun, Aline Soules reflects on her journey through widowhood, chronicling her emotions--despair, anger, longing, love, reconciliation.
“Aline Soules’s journey through widowhood, Evening Sun, is told in concise, illuminating poetry. Her chapbook offers a navigable path through the pain of loss into a world of hope.”
—B. Lynn Goodwin, author of You Want Me to Do WHAT? Journaling for Caregivers and Managing Editor of Writer Advice
“Soules infuses “Notes” from famous composers throughout Evening Sun, providing a counterpoint to memorable moments with her husband. Her poems are evocative and luminous. Her heartbreaking, sudden widowhood is played out in the pedestrian details of daily life alone—rinsing dishes, observing nature she once shared with him—in language that speaks to readers’ universal experience of loss.”
—Ann Damaschino, poet and novelist

- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5I was gifted this little book of 29 pages and fell in love with the word pictures it brought to me. This is the journey of a widow, whose deepest thoughts and memories wove a beautiful landscape of pictures. As married women, we tend to mold our men to "close the toilet seat," "rinse dirty dishes," "wipe up the granuales of sugar on the clean counter," and much more. When that person is gone, we wished we could clean up after you for those little things that bothered us. Yes, bothered us! I'm as guilty as the next woman. But, when that person is gone, you can only dream of having to do those menial jobs. What would it take us? - a minute or two, when a lifetime has left us?This book grabbed my heart and made me realize that life is too short - That your life could change in an instant.Grab this little book and keep it next to your bed or chair to read, and find the treasures that I found. I really couldn't put it down until I was finished.
