About this ebook
A delightful retelling of the three little pigs story. Three little gators strike out on their own in an east Texas swamp. Their mother warns them to build strong houses that can protect them from Big-bottomed Boar, who likes to eat tasty, tender gators for his snack. Soon, First Gator builds himself a nice house out of rocks. Second Gator reckons rocks are too much work, so he builds his house with sticks. And Third Gator’s house of sand is the easiest one to build! But soon Big-bottomed Boar shows up. With a bump, bump, bump of the fierce boar’s rump, he knocks over Third Gator’s house of sand. It doesn’t take long for that rump to bump Second Gator’s house of sticks. But he can’t knock over Third Gator’s house of stones, so he tries another way in—through the chimney! Guess what happens to the Boar’s rump after that?!

- Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5I really liked this book for multiple reasons. I liked how the illustrations were created in a animated kind of way. It felt, somewhat, like watching a TV show instead of reading a book. I liked how the author took the story of the three little pigs and gave her own little spin on it. For example, the three alligators created their houses with rocks, stick, and sand to avoid the boar. The original story was about the three little pigs, building their house out of straw, sticks, and brick to avoid the wolf. I liked how the author decided to bold and enlarge the font of the most important words in the story. Lastly, I loved how one of the images is flipped sideways to represent the boar going down the chimney. This scene also displays the text, underneath the pig, sideways.I thought it was such a clever way to use up the space. The big idea of this book is to retell the three little pigs story with a twist.
- Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5Oh I wish I had a little one to read this aloud with! The wolf is replaced by the Big-bottomed Boar who says I'll wiggle my rump with a Bump, Bump, Bump and smash your house!" Not to mention idioms like "... faster than snakes after a bullfrog." Bright & funny illustrations are perfect."
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5One of the best retellings of The Three Little Pigs I've read in a long time.
- Rating: 2 out of 5 stars2/5This tale is a twist on the folktale "The Three Little Pigs." Instead of three little pigs, the main characters are three little gators who were just sent out in the world to make it on their own. Their mother leaves them with words of wisdom to build nice, strong houses and to stay away from the "Big-Bottomed Boar." Read this tale to find out what type of houses these gators build and discover if they are able to escape the teeth of the Big-Bottomed Boar.
- Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5This charming adaptation of the story of the "Three Little Pigs" has the three gators narrowly escaping the clutches big bottomed boar. Engagingly illustrated--who knew alligators could be so expressive?
