    Traveling almost as far north as the map can take you, is a beautiful country called Norway. It is here, where trolls live, hidden in the rocky mountains illuminated by the glow of the northernlights. These mountains are covered by ancient trees whose branches, like strings of a harp, sway as they play the timeless lullaby of the northern winds.

    Norway is famous for its fjords, the long, narrow inlets of water between towering mountain ranges and the North Sea. On sunny days these majestic lakes double in size as ice melts from the mountain peaks forming gray-blue mirrors below. While staring at your reflection in the stillness of a fjord, you may be lucky enough to catch a glance of a troll behind you!

    The people who live in the white-washed farm houses that line the countryside of Norway have passed down troll stories for generations. Their children listen intently to the tales while drawing pictures of trolls late into the evening hours. This is how I first learned of trolls from my mother, just as she did from hers.

    Trolls are mysterious giants that live deep in the forest and mountains of Norway. Legend claims they have tails, large pointed ears, and sometimes only one eye. A few have two, three or more heads. It is believed they live for hundreds, some say thousands, of years. Tradition has it that if a troll looks at the sun he’ll turn to rock.
