This story takes place five years before the events in Bite Me, the first book in the Demon Underground series.

SHAWN SAT HIDDEN in the shadows inside his adobe home and glared outside at the relentlessly sunny day, hating how it kept him trapped inside. I'm a huge fan of Parker Blue's Demon Underground series. I haven't been a huge fan of Shade's--broody men don't do it for me--but this story shows me the reason Shade's the way he is. A reason that makes sense, one I can understand. And it sets up some very interesting things for the future.

There's also a preview of Blue's next book in the series--Dare Me--which looks to be very good.
