About this ebook

Paul shouldn’t be playing with younger men, but Adam is irresistible…

Travelling salesman Paul is in the historic English town of Lincoln for one night only. Approaching forty and feeling sorry for himself over the lack of a special man in his life, he is looking to pick up a spicy little something to take back to his hotel.

In a bar, he’s hit on by twenty-year-old poetry-obsessed student, Adam. The age gap is too great, and Adam is too young and naïve for Paul. They have nothing in common and it shouldn’t work. Paul should know better than to chase a younger man but after a night of wild sex, Adam is too keen, and Paul has limited willpower…

I wasn't sure what to expect when I picked this book other than some conflict because one, or both, of the main characters would end up being an idiot or worse before he comes around. I must admit I like those kinds of stories, because we all make mistakes, and Scarlet Blackwell is particularly good at depicting flawed men who end up having an uphill struggle to redeem themselves. I certainly enjoyed reading about this particular situation.

Paul is approaching forty and travels on business. He's all about the one-night stand, and even though he feels it's wrong to give in to Adam's advances, because he is eighteen years younger, he is weak and temptation wins out. Having an older businessman 'hunting' a younger man is a recipe for disaster, right? Well, in this case it turns out to be much more than that. Yes, the disaster happens, but only because Paul behaves as he expects himself to behave because he doesn't think about what he wants to do. The situation becomes a recipe for self-discovery as soon as the stubborn idiot (yes, he is that and so much worse initially) opens his eyes and starts to follow his heart.

Adam is young, idealistic, and hopeful he can change the world. Oh, yes, and find a hot older man who will take him seriously and become his lover. He is also not afraid to go after what he wants, so he approaches Paul with a heart full of hope and a body on full alert and ready to go. Adam enjoys hot, dirty sex as much as the next guy, but he wants more. Too bad Paul isn’t ready to give it. Or is he?

If you like stories about flawed heroes who don’t always do the right thing but learn something in the process, if you're not averse to some very hot and passionate loving between two men who cannot keep their hands off each other once they are together, and if you enjoy stories about tortured souls struggling to find their happy ending (since one of them initially doesn’t even want one), then you will probably enjoy this story.

A very interesting story. Paul seems to be such a jerk at first that you want to hate him but as the story develops you ready to cry for him. Adam is a strong character to be able to first move forward and then to be willing to open up again.
