I love your husband. I know those aren’t words a wife wants to hear but it’s the truth and at this stage in my life I refuse to lie. Especially when it comes to matters of the heart. I know you love him; I’ve seen it in the way you look at him. Your eyes run over his form like a caress. In truth though, I love him more. It’s not a challenge, nor is it an insult to your feelings for him. It is just simply the truth. I love your husband so much that to look at him lately breaks my heart to pieces. I will tell you the truth and please don’t be hurt, but my feelings are reciprocated. I know they are because he tells me time and again, and yes, even when you are in the room. He loves me and that knowledge breaks my heart even more.

I don’t have a heart anymore, for it has been broken that many times over the last few months.

He is praying now, your husband is, his hands clasp mine as I lie in my bed struggling to breathe. It’s a struggle even to do this now. In and out the air moves but it feels as if I am only sipping at the oxygen instead of swallowing it as I would like.

I don’t hold your husband’s religion against him. If he chooses to believe in some happily ever after for the dead then he is more than welcome. I don’t see the validity of the theory though. I believe that there is nothing. Just plain old nothing when the body stops working and the mind shuts down. He wants to believe in heaven, I believe, because he wants to have some comfort in the inevitability of my condition. No matter how tempting it may be to tell him otherwise, I don’t. I won’t take what comfort he has from him.

He’ll need all the comfort in the world soon.

I have no idea of what I just read. Somebody died and it was all over the place. So sad.
