About this ebook

Kate Evans is an adventurous and independent young woman with a pioneering spirit. She pilots a mail-delivery plane in the forbidding Alaskan wilderness, the lone woman in a male profession. But even that seems easy compared to finding true love. She likes a fellow pilot and would even consider marrying him--if it weren't for Paul, a mysterious man on her mail route with a gentle spirit and a past to hide. Can Kate break through the walls Paul has put up around his heart? And will her quest for adventure be her demise?

Book 1 in the Alaskan Skies series, Touching the Clouds will draw readers in with raw emotion and suspense, all against the stunning backdrop of the Alaskan wilds.

This is a very good book. Kate is someone every woman wants to be at sometime in their life. She is independent, and will not let any man dominate her.

I loved reading TOUCHING THE CLOUDS by Bonnie Leon. Her book is a very fun read that is out of the normal romantic read. I love that the book is a Christian fiction about a very adventuous young lady named Kate who is a bush pilot in the wilds of Alaska. She has a relationship with two extraordinary men- one a nice, reliable, steady co-worker and the other a guy who she delivers to in her travels, with a past that has me guessing and by the way so does Kate, who runs from her parents and her frightening past.I enjoyed reading about the Alaskan history. I felt as if I were right there, sharing in Kate's adventures. Bonnie has become a favorite writer of mine and I feel very kin to her as a friend. Thanks for a great read and I look forward to read more of Bonnie's books in the future. Such a great escape from the mundane duties of life, and Bonnie writes about putting your trust in God who will never fail you! What a great lesson!

1935 Kate wants to be a pilot. She leaves her finace and decides not to get married. She goes to Alaska to become a bush pilot. She discovers warm people and 2 men who are interested romantically in her. She has many journeys when she flies. The description in the book is beautiful. I swear you will fell the cold chill while reading this book.

Bonnie Leon is one of those authors that gives it all to her readers. There is suspense that makes you keep on reading. Romance that makes you struggle and route for certain characters and mumble for others to get out the way. There is adventure that makes your heart soar. Descriptions are painted that make you emotions rise and your imagination smile. As a reader, hearing the water trickle whether it is from a lake, beach or snow melting all come through clearly as well as the birds in the air and wolves in the brush.Without a doubt this novel is well researched and diligently written. I have enjoyed every single page and twist in the story. Nerves wracked and wondering when "it" would happen and what would come next. Kate had my support through her antagonistic co-worker(s) and Paul had my heart and my craving for his past to fall away to open him to a new future. It is amazing how characters' lives can be so similar, yet so different as well. The people on the page came off the page with ease and into my heart.Every minute spent in the Alaskan brush was an adventure and I cannot wait for more in the series and more from Bonnie. Highly recommended!*Thanks to Revell Books for providing a copy for review.*

I always believe in giving my honest opinion in books and I will do no less with this book. It is wonderfully written by Bonnie Leon, a gifted and talented author. However, while this was a unique start to an interesting new series, I found that it was a bit too slow for my tastes. Definitely not a "relaxing" read. The plot and characters blend well together, but I think I was expecting something more fast-paced and adventurous when I read the blurb of Kate being a bush pilot. But, all that being said, Leon did a fantastic job with building a plot of always following your dreams, never just settling. With Kate, Paul and even Mike, adding some serious depth to the story, Leon shows her ability to take a character and detail them so much that it's like you've always known them. With all the people in this novel learning to let go, move on, praying and trusting in God, it adds a great Christian message.Back to the beginning of my review. Honesty. I give this book 4 stars for a unique and interesting story, and because it is sure to appease the reading appetite of people who enjoy a more serious, slower type story. However, as well written as it was, it was a bit too slow for me to fully 100 percent enjoy this story. I will be looking for book 2 in this series to release, in hopes that Kate's story is continued with a little more adventure this time!

TOUCHING THE CLOUDS by Bonnie Leon is an Inspirational Historical Romance set in 1930 Alaska wilderness. This is the first in the Alaska Skies series. It is well written with depth and details. It is very descriptive with scenes of Alaska and its territory in the early days. It has adventure, faith, romance, dreams, struggles with faith and past hurts, courage, determination, and spirit. It is about the struggles of a young female pilot named Kate, who dreams of becoming an Alaskan Bush pilot and finding her true spirit. She is spunky, fearless, adventurous, and determined to prove herself as a bush pilot. Paul is strong, lonely, grieving from his past loses, mysterious and his faith has dwindled. Their are a host of other characters who are just as interesting throughout this story, for they are a lively, adventurous, and full of spirit bunch. It you enjoy adventure, romance and exciting wild cast of characters you will enjoy this one. I would recommend this book for it will encourage your faith and leave you with a good feeling. Yes, the main character is adventurous, likable, and flawed (that’s a good thing). No, the romance doesn’t particularly tug at the heartstrings, and the “love triangle” seems more ‘because it had to be there’ than ‘natural progression of the heart’. Yes, there’s suspense… but no, I don’t think there’s quite the “raw emotion” of the synopsis’ claim.I’ll start by saying this: The book is interesting if you don’t know a lot about planes, flying, or Alaska around the 1930s. However, there isn’t a whole lot of historical detail included, and the one attempt by the main character to deal with racial tensions comes out of nowhere and seems more contrived than anything else (since it doesn’t connect with anything else in the story). But I learned a few things about planes, flying, and pilots of small charter flights, which I found quite interesting.Back to the story…As much as I didn’t mind the main character, Kate, I didn’t care for the pacing of the book. This could be due to the fact that it’s the first book in the series and tried to set up for the next books, but I found that there wasn’t a whole lot of plot… rather, it seemed very episodic. Here’s a flight, a problem with the flight, the problem is solved, Kate goes home. Next chapter there’s another flight, maybe a problem (or maybe not), everything’s okay, Kate goes somewhere. Next chapter we have another flight… rinse and repeat. I kept wondering when the actual meat of the story would kick in, but it never did…And without giving too much away, the love triangle didn’t make sense. In a literary love triangle, you normally have the good guy, the ‘bad boy’, and the main character has to choose between the man she wants to be with and the man she knows she should be with. Something like that, anyway. And usually as a reader, you can see clearly who she should be with, even while she strays off to the wrong guy… but here, we have a love triangle with two perfectly normal guys, neither one better than the other (in fact, they seemed almost like carbon copies at times) and you really don’t know who to root for. When she eventually lets one down for the other one, I felt almost like she just kicked a puppy… because she had no reason to let that one go. Literally. No. Reason.Which again, is why the book left a lot to be desired. Yes, I learned a few things, but without a clear focus in the plot, combined with a love triangle that feels more like a cut-and-paste plot device, I can’t say I’ll read anything else in this series. Which is too bad, because ultimately the writing was very good! I think I’ll find a different novel from the author, and try that instead. I won’t give up on her yet! I just won’t read more of this particular series.Book has been provided courtesy of Baker Publishing Group and Graf-Martin Communications, Inc.
