Chapter One
The seaside town of Llandudno, nestles comfortably between two large mountains the Great Orme and the little Orme, Aneen and her Pixie family live in a beautiful valley in a cave on the Great Orme.
In this ancient Welsh land there are many legends and great warriors lay buried beneath its green fields, protected for all time by the Elves, Gnomes, and Pixies and of course the Fairies, of the Orme.
Aneen lives with her mother and father in a small cave hidden deep in the undergrowth surrounded by trees and flowers, her days are spent gathering used spider webs whose gossamer threads will make new wings and dresses for the fairies.
Her mother Pod will spin the threads on her magic sewing machine, she spends all day in her cave just spinning away and singing opera.
Aneen loves to hear her mother sing.
Aneen's father Mac is a gnome he is always dressed in green and goes out to work looking smart with his pointed green hat on, his job is cleaning mushrooms and toadstools, every morning he gets up early, cleans his boots, picks up his bucket and brush, kisses Pod goodbye and goes out of the door whistling, he is an excellent whistler, especially when he whistles The green green grass of home.
Aneen has a little elf brother called Midge, Midge has bright red hair and the cutest elfin face you have ever seen, he is always getting into mischief, every day Aneen has to take Midge with her, so Pod can get on with her sewing.
They go through the same routine every day.
Aneen gets up early and tries to sneak quietly out of the cave so she does not have to take Midge with her but her mother always hears her and calls out,
‘Aneen take your brother with you,'
‘Do I have to' Aneen says with a sigh
` Yes` says Pod, `I don't want him getting under my feet`
Aneen gives another little sigh!
`Alright mam', then to her brother,`You just better behave yourself', ‘I will', says Midge smiling impishly.
Aneen does not really mind taking him with her as she loves her little brother, but he is just so mischievous, and sometimes she likes to day dream on her own, and sit and watch the beautiful fairies dancing amongst the flowers.
On a beautiful spring day when the air is crisp
