Ellie stood eying the space yacht docked a few yards away from her. She didn’t move, just kept twisting a lock of her hair around and around her finger. It wasn’t too late, she could still tell them no. This was so out of her league.

She sighed. Do you want to stay a small town mouse forever? She reached down, grabbed her bags and scurried forward before she could change her mind again. She could feel her hair starting to fall out of the tidy professional up do she’d arranged and snake down her back but didn’t pause to wrestle with it again. She just charged up the ramp, almost colliding with the security guard at the doorway.

I’m Miss Ellen Stevens, the tutor.

Mr. Granite Face shoved an ID pad at her.
